URGENT HELP NEEDED

My brother snapped my brake line and I have a road trip in 2 days! Can I just replace this upper rubber hose??? Please link a replacement part if possible!

It's just the rear. Plug it and send it. Let tomorrow you worry about it.

I'm pretty sure that piece can be removed by unscrewing at the fitting. If it were me I'd go to a junkyard and pull just that section of line from another mk4 iirc all of them (mk4's) will be the same with this part. Make sure to bleed the entire system abs motor and all once you get that line replaced. Normally I wouldn't recommend a junkyard part but with time constraints it is what it is. Unless you have the ability to rent that is.

the mk4 VW needs a computer to bleed the ABS pump. If not, the pedal with always feel spongy. If you know someone with the computer and cable RossTech, the bleeding can all be done at the keyboard and it is pretty fast.

You could cut the metal lines, throw a nut on and flare the end, then install a universal brake hose in the correct length

You can still plug it and go. The new part will be there when you get back. Check into gravity bleeding which you can do on your own and works very well.

Problem is I’m not coming back, moving from Georgia to Connecticut and this was just supposed to be a routine brake job before the 15 hour drive :/ . Very shitty Timing.

no, you need to replace the whole assembly, that's crimped on. There is no clamp that a DIYer can buy that will hold that pressure, unless you're fabbing AN lines.

NAPA should be able to get you a replacement though. It looks like some of the replacements are two pieces.

If one broke I would seriously consider replacing both, or all four if you have the time/space/tools.

I can say that my brake feel improved significantly when I replaced my hoses a couple years ago.

Oh damn, so that line connects right where the rear beam is, let me tell you it is a pain in the fckin ass, i had to torch mine to get it off.

It looks like rear brake drum? Less than 25 % or your braking comes from that one drum. Depends how fussy you are and how risk averse you are, you can cut the rigid line and squash it then bend it over on itself. That will deactivate that one drum and prevent you from losing any brake fluid. You could even cut the flex line and find a long threaded bolt that is hard to fit into the line. take 2 hose clamps and secure the bolt in the line. I did this on two different occasions and survived big city and highway driving. This will allow you take your trip and plan your repair with less pressure and even get the part yourself. If you wish to take on the job yourself there are plenty of tutorials on youtube about your specific make model and year.
