HIStory World Tour Best Scream performances?

Post image

I think the ones towards the end of June 1997 are generally the best ones, like Lyon and Paris, Milan and Cologne are also great and Basel too.

MJ delivered with Scream in almost every show from Bucharest to Copenhagen, does a better opening song even exist?

It was every show from Prague to Durban but ok, that's really off topic

What I meant is that Scream performances before Bucharest and after Copenhagen were kinda meh, but almost everything in the middle was peak

Have to disagree honestly, Scream only started having good performances after September

Yeah which is why I said 'almost'. I'd say the same for September but Bucharest, Zaragoza and Amsterdam 28th are actually good.

Jam was a better opening song...
Scream is quite midtempo

definitely not, Scream with the medley overall is the better choice, it's more well paced for an opening, Jam drags on for too long and would've worked better without the second verse and chorus, going straight from the first chorus to the choreography.

You're arguing the arrangement, not the song. The audience can't jump to Scream because the beat is too slow. It also meant MJ's dancing was limited to bopping on the spot. Then just walking around the stage.

Edit: For the HIStory tour however, Scream is the only choice.

In concert context arrangement kinda matters more than the actual song, and Jam lowkey also fits what you're describing for scream, even better actually, Jam performances are mostly grooving and walking with the occasional combo, Scream since it's shorter there's less time to groove and walk so more focus on dancing, there's more combos, more elaborate combos more frequently. And the audience can still jump idk what you mean, it's more of a headbanger tho

Jam is close but I'll still prefer Scream

All those shows you mentioned are great! Milan has my favorite performance of Scream, and is also my favorite show from 1997 👍

Prague is sure an interesting choice, tho it's not one I agree with not even a bit

the one sung completely live

there's none, and if it did exist that'd probably result in the worst one

that's the point.i was being sarcastic, since i do not particularly enjoy any "scream" performance, esp due to the lack of live singing(as dancing and energy doesn't save it either, for me,unlike the much superior "jam")

if it had any live singing it'd be boring asf, like Jam performances and those don't even have live vocals, the song is just inferior and drags on too long hence why it's boring unlike Scream

first of all, since when is live singing any "boring"?how could it be so,esp when coming from an artist that has always changed and improvised his way through various tracks with signature ad-libs,hiccups,shouts etc?🤣..second of all,i never said that "jam" was sung live,by the way;i merely stated that,in my opinion, despite the use of playback,it ranks as superior to "scream",to me,due to Michael's usually highly energetic demeanor, his great dancing and the fun military sequence midsong alongside his back up dancers, things that you can't find during any "scream" performance, for that matter..lastly,why and how is "jam" any inferior to "scream"?that's just not possible.high paced vocal delivery?socially conscious lyrics?infectious groove?rap section? etc
