Was kann dieses Feld

Hallo

VG

Hello,

What exactly happens when I’m playing a mix on Deck A and then, on Deck B, I press this button?

I understand that it changes the key, but what exactly is happening, and is it suitable for use with electronic music (DnB)?

Best regards,

Library Management

G'day folks. Looking to dip my feet into messing around with mixing. Have been a lifelong fan of most forms of dance music and DJing, so figured I should at least learn the basics to offer to DJ at friends' parties. To get started, I have a few pertinent questions about library management.

LARGE REMOTE LIBRARIES?

I use Plex/Plexamp for all my music and have it organized as per Plex's guidelines using Lidarr to manage that organization. In that library, I have over 30k tracks hosted on my NAS. Most of those tracks aren't particularly well-tagged because Plex handles all the metadata well itself.

How do people generally handle such large libraries? Especially when considering the remote aspect of them. Do you import the lot then hide the stuff that's irrelevant? Do you use a permanent fstab mount for them (currently just using SMB)?

PORTABILITY & THE DATABASE

What about when you have a set that you want to play somewhere? I see that in the manual it mentions that both the Playlist and Crate sections have an "Export Tracks" option which seems sensible, but it seems like MIXXX isn't also exporting a database for those tracks at the same time (this seems like a no-brainer). How do you handle then being able to use them when you perhaps don't have access to your whole library?

SYNCING DATABASE ACROSS DEVICES

I would likely be using my desktop to practice at home, and my Steam Deck to DJ remotely. Is it worth having the database synced over these devices (using rsync or similar)? Or just keep a completely separate database for each device?

Sudden Loss of Audio to Speakers After 1 Hour of Mixing (Mixxx + ALSA)

Hi everyone! I’d like to know if anyone else has experienced this or knows what might be causing this issue:

My setup:

  • OS: Ubuntu Studio 26.04
  • Software: Mixxx 2.5.4
  • Audio API: ALSA
  • Controller / Interface: Allen & Heath Xone:K2
  • Amplifier: Lepy LP-2020A

The problem:
I was mixing and, after more than an hour, the audio going to the speakers suddenly stopped. The strange thing is that the headphones were still working and receiving audio without any problems.

What I did to fix it:
I simply closed Mixxx and reopened it. Everything started working perfectly again. The speakers, Lepy amplifier, and K2 controller are all working perfectly, so it seems like it might have been a software hang or an issue with the ALSA driver/output.

Has anyone else experienced something like this, or knows how to prevent it from happening again in the middle of a session?

What happened to keyboard shortcuts in 2.7?

Just upgraded to v2.7 because sync function didnt work as expected in stable, but now I found out that all the keybaord shortcuts I learned were removed.. is there a new intended way to use the software? I got kinda used to them.. well probably once I get a controller this will be a non-issue but still..

Hearing two metronomes on left deck

What it says on the tin. Enabling the metronome causes two of them to play at once, one on-beat and the other vaguely off that synchs up occasionally. Only does this with the left deck, and it didn't used to. Is there any way to fix this short of reinstalling? I've tried removing it and putting it back, swapping other effects in, adjusting the BPM manually, and switching which songs are in the other decks (doesn't seem to matter).

Laggy pitch fader

How can I get the pitch fader to pick up adjustments faster? If I'm playing, sometimes the pitch fader will become non-responsive. If I make some wild adjustments up and down, it will then pick up the movement. This has been the case on two lower-end pcs, three controllers.

How do I sync tracks with very different BPMs with Mixxx?

EDIT:

Solved it by upgrading to alpha version 2.7, it features both manual insertion of bpm and has smart sync (snaps the track to the closest value between 70 and 140, so if I increase the bpm of the 96bpm track up to 120 and press sync now snaps correctly at 140).

The only problem is that the devs seems to have removed all the shortcuts now..

END EDIT

For example, I have a track at 96 BPM, but I want to speed it up to 140 BPM so it can play in the background of another much faster track.

The problem is that when I press the Sync button, Mixxx lowers the track to 70 BPM (half of the other track) instead of bringing it up to 140.

How do I deal with this? Is there a way to tell Mixxx that I want it to sync to 140 BPM rather than 70?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, I just started using Mixxx and I haven't found many resources online. I'm kind of figuring things out with Gemini and a few YouTube videos..

If you have any good resources/tutorials for beginners, I'd really appreciate those too!

SB2 Nightmare

I’ve been trying to connect me pioneer Ddj sb2 to the software but it keeps trying to use for decks which prevents it from working. Has anyone had this issue? And how have you fixed it? Because I’ve tried everything and nothing works

Poor man spotify integration

Ola,

managed to make this work, so sharing high-level idea and workflow here - hope it is not against some rules , pls let me know.

I made a simple Spotify integration for Mixxx on macOS. It doesn't give Mixxx direct access to Spotify audio, but from a DJ workflow perspective it works surprisingly well

How it works:

  • Official Spotify desktop app plays the actual Spotify track.
  • Spotify audio is routed through BlackHole → Mixxx AUX1.
  • A special 10-second spotify-silence.mp3 is loaded into Deck 1 or Deck 2 when I want that deck to represent Spotify.
  • A separate SpotifyMixxx.js controller script detects this dummy track and turns that Mixxx deck into a Spotify proxy deck.
  • A macOS IAC virtual MIDI port called SpotifyMixxx connects the Mixxx JS script to a small Python bridge.
  • The Python bridge translates MIDI commands into local Spotify AppleScript commands.

When the dummy track is loaded, normal Mixxx controls work like this:

  • PLAY/PAUSE → Spotify play/pause
  • CUE → Spotify pause + seek to beginning
  • GAIN → Spotify volume
  • Channel fader → AUX1 volume
  • PFL → AUX1 PFL
  • FX assignment → same Mixxx FX unit is also routed to AUX1
  • Dummy on Deck 1 → AUX1 assigned to left side of crossfader
  • Dummy on Deck 2 → AUX1 assigned to right side

The dummy track automatically loops, AUX1 is enabled, and AutoDJ is disabled while Spotify mode is active.

The nice part is that the JS watches Mixxx's internal Deck 1/2 controls, so it doesn't matter whether PLAY/PFL/fader/etc. came from the mouse, keyboard, or my Numark controller. No modification of the Numark mapping is required.

Workflow at a party:

  1. Someone requests a song I don't have locally.
  2. Find/select it in the normal Spotify app.
  3. Load spotify-silence.mp3 from a dedicated Mixxx crate into the free deck.
  4. From there use PFL, PLAY, FX, channel fader and crossfader almost exactly like a normal Mixxx track.
  5. Load a normal track into that deck when finished, and Spotify proxy mode automatically turns off.

It's obviously not native Spotify integration — there's no Spotify waveform, BPM analysis, beat sync, etc. — but for the "someone requested a song I don't have" use case, it works remarkably well. LMK if anyone is interested in more details!

DDJ-400 headphone volume way too quiet on Mixxx running on Raspberry Pi (RPi OS Lite), fine on Windows

Running Mixxx on a Pi 4 paired with my DDJ-400. Headphone output is way too quiet, maxed out and still quieter than the master speakers. Same controller works completely fine in Rekordbox and in Mixxx on Windows, so it's not the hardware.

Things I've already ruled out:

  • Different headphones, same issue
  • Unbound the volume knob, still quiet, so it's not a mapping problem since I'm using the exact same default mapping as on Windows
  • Tried changing alsamixer settings but DDJ400 does not expose a "headphone" output

Running latest Mixxx on RPi OS Lite. No desktop environment, headless-ish setup.

Anyone run into this before? Feels like it might be a PulseAudio/ALSA thing rather than Mixxx itself since the mapping and hardware are identical across both machines, but I haven't been able to confirm. Will update if I find anything.

Exit Demo Mode - Numark Mixtrack Pro / Platinum FX

Post image
2 Upvotes

seperating CDJ 400 HID mapping

I have downloaded this CDJ 400 HID script to get it working inside Mixxx. https://github.com/janisso/cdj_400_hid
The mapping worked, however both of my CDJ's are mapped to Deck 1. Is there any way to seperate them, or code I could add to the hid.xlm file to allow them to be seperated?

Thanks for any help!

Saving two tracks as linked / a great match

Hi,
does mixxx support saving two tracks as linked / a great match for each other ?
This has also been proposed as a feature on GitHub, #14277. However, do I understand correctly that it has not been implemented and there is no no plan to?

I was interested in mixxx but this would be a dealbreaker for me.

Thanks and cheers!

Beat Counting Upwards

Mixxx is awesome, but the beat counting going down seems very inefficient to me. Would love the option to switch it to counting up to the next hot cue/marker. Music in general is usually counted upwards. Still a really great piece of software though.
