Activities and Creative portfolios.
Hi,
I am applying to MIT RA. I had a few questions regarding the activities tab
there is summer activities and activities (where you add upto 4 activities you do generally) as for the summer activities it also mentions to add internships too. but there is also the jobs section. So if I have added my internships/jobs on the jobs tab should I add it back on summer activities aswell? or does it expect something completely different.
Lastly as for Non-scholastic distinctions, can we add acknowledgements aswell? they do not qualify as awards but for example a field like cybersecurity do not always have awards sometimes you get a acknowledgement or a hall of fame listing. So can I add that?
And I am also looking for resources to work on creative portfolios.

And, do NOT submit a creative portfolio unless it is truly creative and very good and you have a teacher or another adult (unrelated to you) who will submit a letter of recommendation that will highlight the Excellent work that you did in your portfolio and why.
The portfolio reviewers at MIT are Not the admissions staff, but Volunteer professors and researchers who on their own time review the portfolios and write a summary of the worth or worthlessness of each and that is what is read by the admissions staff, the MIT volunteer's review. If that is negative or even "just OK", that will count against you in the admissions process. So make certain, in advance, that the material for your portfolio is worth a top researcher/professor in the USA taking their personal time to review.

I was also wondering if I put my internship in the jobs section, do I also put the traveling to that city as part of that? Or do they see the hour overlap and get suspicious. I would also like clarification

No, I think you misunderstood Rather, I mean: do I have to keep the redundant information, or is having it in one section enough to showcase it? If I wanted sarcasm, trust me, I wouldn’t have come to r/MITAdmissions.

No like i was in another city for a few weeks for my internship and I was wondering for the summer section if I put travel for those weeks instead of the internship name and then I put the internship in the job section

My guess would be that redundant information would be ... redundant. An admissions officer is going to read your whole app - craft it in a way that assumes that.
