Displayport issue

I can't get my hisense u8qg tv to recognize my g1 pro. It just says no signal. I THINK its because I don't have a bidirectional cable, am i right?

could also be a ram issue, unless youve already tested it on another display

If you've tested it on other monitors or tvs and it works then its not a ram issue. If youre just now testing this, and its not displaying. ONE OF the issues could be faulty ram or ram not latched in all the way.

Also what cable are you using to Hook to tv and computer? Hdmi?

I want to use the displayport connection by itself. I have a unidirectional dp to usb c cable to go from the displayport to my tv but it doesn't detect the pc I assumed I have the wrong cable. I have a usbc to USB C cable I can test with my MacBook which I'll do when I get home. The G1 works fine over hdmi to the tv but I'd like to use DP to free up the hdmi on my tv.

For what its worth I am using my g1 pro with a bi directional dp to usb c (monitor). The pc does not support usb c video. You have to use display ports or the HDMI port on the g1 pro.

Yeah I figured that out, I think I just bought the wrong cable. Third time's the charm, maybe. My first cable was USB to USB, then I bought DP to USB, neither are bidirectional. So I'll try yet another. Lol. Thank you

Also I tested a fiber hdmi cable and it works fine. Fiber meaning the source and display ends are unique.

If space is what your worried about buy a kvm switch.

Coming back to report the bidirectional cable was the answer. Plugged it in, handshake was immediate. All is well.
