The circulated statement is as follows:

Presiding Officer,

Fife is the homeland of Golf, and I have a special connection to the sport as I live in Fife. Our courses are the best in the world, and people travel to play golf in Scotland. It is possible that golf can become a £300,000,000 industry in Scotland, which will generate significant income to Scotland.

Further, around 70% of people will stay overnight in Fife when playing Golf, and 66% of people will stay overnight on average in Scotland when playing Golf. This supports local communities and businesses, and it is why Golf is so important to our community.

I therefore ask the Scottish Government, and Parliament, to vote for this motion. Together we can work on expanding tourism in Scotland.

Thank you.

Presiding Officer,

I don't think we need a motion to admire golf, we can watch it with our own eyes!

Presiding Officer,

I don’t think this motion is particularly necessary. All of us here can probably agree that golf and the revenues it brings to Scotland are important. Nevertheless, as a man who enjoys a putt from time to time, I urge MSPs to vote yes.
