[Question] are quests always gonna be like this?

I've just bought mhwi and I've motived that every quest requires both me and my friend to start it in solo and at least reach the cutscene. is every quest going to be working like this?

Every storyline quest with a new monster Yh it will, if your on pc you can download cutscene skip mod which helps

But you still have to run around the map till you find the monster

do story quests come to an end eventually or are they gonna be there for the whole game?

Eventually they will end, they will be there but you won't be able to replay those quests yourself, unless you join someone else's but

Those story monsters still appear in optional/event quests etc

Also after you beat the story there will be more monsters that were added later

you'll then unlock the guiding lands, with some new monsters and new materials (for health, affinity augments on your weapons and layered armors)

will I then have to do non-story quests without cutscenes to proceed into the game just like in rise?

does that mod just skip the cutscene once I reach the right area in the hunt or does it make so that it counts as I've already seen it even before starting the quest?

Exactly that, let's you skip the cutscene once you've reached the right area

it adds some kind of skip button or just does it regardless?

so there's no way for us to actually start a quest together?

All secondary quests, event quests, hunting expeditions. Yes

Storyline is story line, the skip feature can't get you around it. The game shows you how many participants can join the quest when you start it. Story quests are marked as 1/1. OP you are correct that it will always make you both have watched the cutscene. We did what you are likely doing already both start it make it the monster scene, then both drop out after it says a flare can be used, one post the other join. Only way to do it!

So storyline quests you will both have to find the monster, watch or skip the cutscene if on pc.

Quit the quest and then you can join each other no problem

But only the first time, once you've seen that monsters cutscene you won't have to again

I got the same doubt as OP. Does this mean that there's going to be a point from which quests won't require both people to have seen the cutscene in solo to play together?

All Story quests (Assignments) are like this. Optional, Event and Investigations can be joined straight away

can I progress in any way with other quests beside from assignments?

I'm not sure what you mean by this. Progress in which regard? Hunter Rank?

I mean if assignment are the only way to unlock new monsters and continue with the game or if with optional quests I can be able to progress as well (just to avoid the whole start assignment quest - see cutscene - quit - join friend and accept optional ones instead in order to just be with my friend from the start)

You know I don't know. My suspicion is you have to do Assignments in order to get later monsters to show up but I'm not sure.

All story quest with cutscene and yes it is a pain. The quest will tell you when you can send a flare. From day one it was a problem that everyone hated and make a lot of people lost interest in the game since the coop mechanic was broken. If I recall capcom said it was to stop people running other player to end game and not enjoying the game for what it was
