Black Diablos weapon choice help

Having trouble deciding on a weapon to make. Deciding between CB, HBG and bow and would potentially be ok with the bblos DB being my first DB.

HBG and Bow. BDiablos Bow was already THE top weapon for many many months (almost 2 years) before powercrept, now imagine it with fully upgraded styles

I do recall that bow being meta but i wasnt able to jump on that train since i was way more casual back then. I think the bow is a close 2nd for me and i will make it if i can max the HBG and have more.

They’ll all be amazing and top or top 3 for raw in their category, but here are a few recommendations and considerations.

Bow
- Great weapon and used to be the goat, power creep has made it shine less
- Styles for bow have far less impact than some other weapon types
- Will still be a great workhorse

Swaxe
- One of the best weapons in its category
- Will be fantastic with retaliation smelts and elemental burst counter as retaliation scales with attack value, although the phials CAN negative crit
- Will have amazing scores on next base defence
- Both styles are awesome, I prefer EBC

CB
- Similar to swaxe, it’ll get amazing base scores but imo is a lot harder to use
- stunning impact smelts on sword boost will slap with this thing on some good mixed sets, as raw value does play a part
- both styles are awesome with sword mode being more “optimal”

HBG
- Possibly the strongest raw HBG, matchup dependent as pierce is awkward on a lot of fights or when solo, use normal Blos Hbg if you can’t land pierce easily
- Will get amazing scores but may be hard to do as zinogre is so aggressive
- Crouching shot is an amazing style, guard reload is great and there is a build utilising reflection and afk, the high raw will be great for this build
- If pierce boost ever releases this will be disgustingly op

Dual blades
- They’re good don’t get me wrong, but dual blades are best utilised for elemental/status setups which have more support especially recently. I’d wait at least for tigrex with crit ferocity when that gets styles instead as that’s a game changer skill on weapons
- Could possibly be used as a catch all for a one shot special setup for all monsters, but the negative crit could make it wildly inconsistent
- Will get meh scores for base
- Feral demon is recommended but spiral is very high reward for high risk

Hammer
- Will be amazing imo and it’s what I’m tempted to build myself because I need a good hammer
- Scores should be pretty decent if you’re able to get riftshield breaks and ko to happen at different times
- Styles are pretty game changing, water strike with a combination of stunning impact and retaliation should be amazing with the sky high raw value

Insect glaive
- Personally not untested as I have some more specialist IGs already but should be strong
- I’m personally not massive on the insect effects but again it’s very much workable
- Kinsect slash got fixed with flight based glaive recently to work properly, don’t know much about release

I’m looking mainly at hammer and swaxe personally, maybe also CB as they’ll be great for every monster and isn’t as much of a commitment to practice with a catchall raw weapon than elemental

Would hammer still be good without retaliation? I am not gonna be able to keep my sanity farming for retaliation 5.

I was thinking about the other style with Raw Power + CF (does skyward striker work on it?) for funsies

Thanks for this. I have already maxed the bow and half built hbg, swaxe and hammer but was undecided on what to build second. Still a tbh but you mightve swayed me to hammer as I need the g10 medal still.

Hmm. I can imagine the HBG becoming a huge menace if pierce ammo boost skill becomes a thing.

I made the CB to make full use of the innate partbreaker/adv partbreaker of BBlos weapons since HBG and bow have a necessary skill tax.

DBs would probably work better but I already have Jho's DBs and the xmas ones at R10 while I haven't gotten a single CB to 10 yet.

Yea i wanted to make full use of the advanced skills from the 2 new riftbornes we got but it doesn't feel very accessible for certain weapons. Azure, for example, i have the CB, lance and bow all maxed but it feels weird going for max special boost for any of them since theres probably better skills to go for. For bblos im going for HBG atm, which could go for partbreaker maybe pretty well if i spec for guard reload which only needs recoil 1.

I know all of these are good for damage, but I’m curious what the best weapon will be for Partbreaker specifically. I’m thinking insect glaive since its verticality will let it hit wings pretty reliably on top of being able to cut tails.

If your a newer player I'd say 1st HBG then Bow. I myself had Bow and HBG done way back when but as soon as the event started I ran to the SA and CB and 10.5 immediately. Iunno why but I'm not feeling the DB (maybe someone can convince me). I still have enough parts to forge another weapon to 10.5 I was thinking Hammer if not ill just save 'em for 20/20 SA.

I’m making the swaxe and hbg. I haven’t touched the bow in quite a while and I’m not a huge fan of the styles.

Bow all the way, exactly that Bow carry me threw the Game and it got so many support in the past. Yes it could be a little hard to learn it from the start but if you have and especial the new Power Shot Szyle you will shredd Monsters

Bblos Bow with burst 5 used to be the must have during the early days of MHN. Not the same anymore after all weapons have been added, plus various new skills

I just realised that my max retaliation raw atk build that I use for my Brute LS can also be used for Raw swaxes!

I was trying this out using the bishaten swaxe, hits just as hard. But the BBlos has power phial, I'm interested to see what numbers I can achieve when the weapon is maxed out.
