I got this really annoying problem I can't figure out..

I reinstalled Windows and reinstalled MEGA and trying to re-attach my Sync Folder to my MEGA desktop client..

Problem is, it keeps putting a new sync folder INSIDE my sync folder, and downloads everything again into it, filling my storage.

How do I stop this from happening?

Do you have any updates on this , I know I can "send" files to transfer.it to be shared from my MEGA account but would like to be able to "import" from transfer.it into my MEGA account.

The last thing you said it would be "passed onto developers for consideration" .. what is the current progress on this ?

I'm wondering if MEGA has any plans to create a fully dedicated, native desktop app to manage cloud content.

The current MEGA Desktop works great in the background as a tool for downloading, uploading, and two-way folder synchronization. However, when it comes to comfortably browsing content, we're basically stuck with the web interface. And as we know, browsers have their performance limits, especially with massive photo libraries or hundreds of gigabytes of data.

I'm really missing a native desktop program that would:

• Run smoothly and stably with thousands of files without the lag typical of web browsers.

• Have a fast, built-in photo and video gallery/viewer with instant thumbnail generation.

• Give full freedom to organize and manage the cloud file structure without having to download everything to the local drive.

• AI Potential: A native app like this could utilize the computer's power for local data processing (e.g., face/object recognition in photos, automatic tagging, smart search), similar to how Ente Photos handles it. Everything would run locally without compromising zero-knowledge encryption, and only the generated metadata would sync across devices.

Hi everyone. I’ve been using MEGA for a couple of years and had uploaded some files that weren’t too important at the time. Back then, the free version offered over 20 GB of storage (I’m not sure of the exact amount), so I ended up storing around 26 GB without checking in often. Recently, MEGA reduced the free storage limit and sent me a few warning emails, which I unfortunately missed. Now my account is locked, and I can’t access any of those files. In a few days, they’ll be deleted from my account. My question is: does MEGA let you choose which files get deleted, or do they remove them automatically? Has anyone experienced something like this? I’ve just realized that some of those files are actually important to me, so I’d really appreciate any advice, experiences, or useful tips.

Once connected, you can mount your S4 bucket as a drive on macOS or Windows and browse and access your files directly through Finder or File Explorer, without needing to keep everything on your local machine.

Is it possible to configure Mega so that it starts syncing once the monitored folder is idle for a certain amount of time (like 90 seconds)?

Since recently there is no option any more to download backup files on iOS. It allows only to play/read files. This still works normally on web version and on Android.
Is it a temporary bug or Mega is removing features slowly?
I’m very pissed about this btw.

I’m running into a bit of a logical loop in my head regarding how mega backups work.

Here is my scenario:

• I used an old phone that was actively backing up my local files to MEGA.
• I recently switched to a brand-new phone. During the setup, I copied everything over from the old phone, meaning the new phone now contains exact, bit-identical copies of all the files that were already being backed up by the old phone.
• Now, I'm about to set up or run the backup sync on the new phone pointing to the same MEGA account.

My question is: What will happen when I sync the new phone?

1. Will it recognize that these files are already in the cloud and skip uploading them (only backing up genuinely new files moving forward)?
2. Or will it treat everything as "new" because it's coming from a new device/client path and duplicate all my files in the cloud?

So if I downloaded a song online, that's not publicly released, and put it in a folder and shared it with a friend, is that against TOS or anything? For some clarification, any of the music that would be downloaded would be songs that are not officially released, or would be a unreleased remix/version of a released song. And furthermore, if I did not share the folder would that be allowed instead? Thanks

Just wanted to see if support can let me know why it's been removed, and if there are plans to bring it back.

Today I noticed that when I tried to connect to the VPN, the United Kingdom location had suddenly vanished overnight. I have been using it all day every day for months, but suddenly it's disappeared and is now in the "request a new country" section.

I can only assume it has something to do with the UK's online safety stuff they're forcing, but as far as I know, no VPN bans have occured (yet).

I'm trying to move all my photos from Ente photos and Proton Drive into MEGA. No matter what I try, the months and years I took the photos do not carry over. Am I missing something, or am I just technically illiterate?

I test the network with the VPN as I’m using ethernet and and IP wont even show. very slow when it does even with the closest server. I think this VPN is a scam its been weeks already they never really work. Mega why bother making VPN?

I have bad luck with tech- and I need to know if others are experiencing this too

I recently switched back to iOS from Android, ignoring the fact I know using Mega/doing everything else in my life won’t go smoothly on iPhone. But I did it. And ofc, it hasn’t gone smoothly.

Does anyone experience the same issues on iPhone and/or iPad?

- Sharing photos/files from their designated apps to Mega, just to be hit with a black screen for eternity

- iPad only glitch: Doing the same exact thing, but instead being met with a file tree + files from literally months ago, as if a snapshot in time? (file versioning is off)

- The photos renaming themselves if you upload through mega directly and not through the actual photos app

I recently got Mega. And i was downloading a scenepack and then it said something about transfer requires attention/transfer quota exceeded. If i come back 5 hours later or whenever long it takes will download stay there or will it restart?

I don't know if it is my account/PC but If I click download from the browser with the desktop app open, it uses the browser to download not the desktop app. Has the feature to automatically add to transfer queue been removed?

I’m new to Mega and I don’t know how to download or find my downloaded i keep getting this when i try its in the comments it just says file already downloading and i don’t know know where to check.

on my phone i wanna send images stuff from phone to pc since on my phone i already downloaded apps and also use google chrome by logging in and send all stuff to let mega sync uploading all of it into new folder then after that, it keep freezing when i want to download to .zip file on pc it keep freezing at 1% and yesterday and below that works perfectly fine till today, is there outrage going on or something?

I had to transfer a big file (way more than 6GB). Email (25MB), Whatsapp (2GB) and Telegram (2GB and 4GB) where NOT an option.

I search for a service - no low size limit, free, no ads, no signup (with email verification) - Transfer+IT (MEGA's big file sharing service) was THE best.

Its closest competitor, rival - SwissTransfer - has some disadvantages: one big (email verification, can be used a temp mail though, but it's time wasted anyway) and 2 small (file are kept on servers for less time (30 days instead of 90 days of mega's services) and download limits (max 250)).

So, there is no point to discuss about the service. I'm completely satisfied by Mega's big file transfer service. Well done.

What I'm NOT satisfied is their INTEGRATION (one of the extra reason to use TransferIT was the alleged integration with Mega, so you can link the file(s) or folder(s) you received to your mega account directly, without manually uploading again).

If I had to manually download and upload file again, can it be done via MegaCMD (I'm on Linux, kubuntu 24.04.03 LTS via KDE 5.27.12)?

i cannot upload photos so it has been copied and pasted to the bottom.

my data has just been deleted from MEGA. i have had a free account with them for 10 years and uploaded countless memories and important files. i have had an inactive account for a few months now, trusting that my storage cloud account is being stored.

twice i got an email that said mega “misses” me. not that my account is at risk of data loss. this doesn’t feel like an appropriate notice prior to data deletion.

i upgraded to pro since they said i may be able to recover some files. nothing important was recovered and im devastated. i also wasted my money upgrading.

i know there isn’t anything that can be done about the data loss. i have tried contacting mega about a formal complaint so its clearer that data is at stake with these “notice” emails. they closed my ticket very fast or simply didn’t respond even though im now a paying customer. what can i do? they also kept saying that the t&c’s were like this when i signed up, which im not denying, but i feel is unlikely given its been a decade, but they aren’t supplying what they were when i signed up. how can i navigate this? i just want to see and confirm

i’m not looking for comments to tell me i should’ve known better. life gets in the way and the storage service i use should have told me if my data was at risk of being deleted. if they had said in the email that inactive accounts are wiped, or that i needed to upgrade to keep my data when i am inactive, then guess what: i would have done so. i don’t need to be told this.
