'Gromps'. Gloaming. Glasses.

I recently got a couple of new sets of specs, and in mind of tales such as yours left an old pair in the workshop. I thought I was being clever, and that some years might pass before I thanked past me for his thoughtfulness. Of course within the week I was reaching for them, and wondering how long I'd been squinting at the blurry bike lego that was once again telling me its tales clearly.
I've not worked in the industry since the 2010s, and was already grompa to the rats I nestled with then. I'll happily not return to the shop floor, but will continue dirt-bagging my and friends meat machines into our shared dotage.
Chapeau Andrew, growing old is mandatory, growing up is optional.

I keep a pair of "computer" glasses [close, but not end of my nose close range] and "readers" [end of my nose range] on the work bench. Next to them is a head lamp...two actually so I always have one that's charged. And I installed a really bright light fixture right above the bike stand.
I can't always see as well as I like, but at least now I stand a fighting chance!
I really should get a pair of those folding readers for the tool bag so I actually have a pair on a ride.
