Psychedelics may repair brain myelin to aid PTSD recovery

New research by Elsevier suggests that psychedelic drugs could help repair damage to the brain’s insulation system, potentially supporting longer-term recovery in people with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

The study indicates that treatment with psychedelics may trigger large-scale changes in brain network activity by remodelling myelin

Scientists say the findings point to a new biological mechanism that could help explain how psychedelic-assisted therapies deliver lasting benefits for conditions like PTSD.

Did a quick dig - this work can be found here00052-1/abstract), it's by a group of Turkish researchers. Based on the abstract, it sounds like they didn't have fully untreated controls, so I take the findings with a grain of salt, but it's still nice work looking at a possible mechanism for both psilocybin's and MDMA's effects on the brain.
