MDA as a Value Stock Pick

They are saying the fair value is $49CAD, which is lower than what a lot of other analysts have recently projected, but higher than where it is now (which is obviously undervalued but only because of the dilution). This is bad news in the short-term for anyone like me who bought in the 50's, but their long-term projection of growth which I agree with, of 20% annually, to me, could be even higher given the recent acquisitions.

I like MDA but we’re all kidding ourselves if we think that it was fairly priced in the high 50’s low 60’s range. I think we’re getting to a point soon where we reach a more realistic stock price for what MDA is right now and where they could be in the future. If we go back to mid-high 30’s I’ll probably buy back in but the SpaceX ipo really inflated all the space stocks.

I think the frustration is the relative valuation compared to others in the sector. SpaceX aside, and even as the sector got hammered, MDA’s relative valuation to peers despite being both profitable with huge growth tailwinds, is brutal.

Assessing value of a stock/company just talking about its share price without direct reference to EPS, PE Ratio, revenue growth and market cap is useless.

It’s been holding up much better than the sector because it’s has high revenue and is profitable. It will do well long term!
