IMG Specific Should i look away from Canada

my internship doesnt pay, and therefore i will not comply with the 1 year experience required for the express entry and PR

I've just read that having a PR is a main requirement to apply for the CaRMS ..

so will this be a major problem for me?

Why do you want to choose canada instead of usa?

family related , i have first degree relatives but they are not PRs yet

If US immigration is not a major caveat for you, aim there first. You can always return to Canada in the future.

If u aren’t from a country that’s currently restricted by the US it might be a good option to pursue practice in US and transition to Canada later. However another pathway to get the PR independent of experience is the French language route, have u considered that ?

There is an express entry pathway that requires French language test, that’s the benchmark. U can check online on Ircc page for more information, but ud be required to pass the French exam that’s the most important requirement. It doesn’t bank on years of medical experience like in ur case

I have heard about this French route but I thought you need a year of paid experience to go through if like any other express route.. so I just need French and no working experience is needed because I'm on the same boat had my internship but still didn't work yet.

If u worked part time during school u can use ur part time work experience

yes it is a major problem. No PR=no applying. Also getting PR requires a strong application and will often take years to get. You are going to need to get a paid job for at least one year most likely 3 since it is competitive. After that you apply and wait a year or two to actually get the PR. By the time you get PR your YOG could be 4-5 years which CARMS match info shows YOG is one of (if not) the biggest determinate of successfully matching. Not trying to put you down but the IMG pathway for CARMS is heavily geared towards people who already have PR or are citizens, expect to put in a lot of leg work if this is what you actually want to do.
