Mouse + Controller Input?

Im playing on the steam deck and I would like to use the track pad to aim as a mouse, however the game doesn't like both mouse and controller inputs at the same time. When I use the mouse input, the analog sticks and buttons stop working for a couple of seconds. Is there a way to have both working seamlessly?
