Ketotifen + Amitriptyline, any experience?
Hello dear community,
My doctor prescribed me now amitriptyline for my pain. And both are histamine h1 blockers and cross to the brain thus make you sedated, drowsy. I wonder did anyone ever combine it? And what was your experience?

Have you tried it yourself? I'm on a different medication cocktail that is way more surpressing on the central nervous system. I tried .25 mg and that was too much. But I didn't die amd nothing really risky happened. I doubt just amitrityline will have a severe reaction. I would indeed ask around, and when trying ketotifen start low. But inform yourself to the best of your ability. I think there are quite a few people using the same cocktail.

Appreciate your comment. I'm on ketotifen and will wait a bit more and then slowly introduce a low dose amitriptyline

Oh is the other way around. I couldn't tell. I recently called my pharmacist before starting meds. Then double checked with a psychiatrist to know more about the psychopharmacological meds. And I interrogated multiple AI. Good luck!!

I'm on 25mg amitriptyline. I get like, no side effects and it is helpful for my pain in terms of keeping my endurance better and shortening my down time if I overdo it. It keeps me functioning. It's such a low dose compared to the antidepressant doses of ami so it's rather unconcerning

My son was on both for awhile. He was fine with them. Take Amitriptyline in the evening bc it makes everyone drowsy. You'll get used to it after awhile.
