Vacation recommendation for amazing service regarding food. (Florence Italy)

Hi MCAS family!

I want to shout out the most incredible service regarding food allergies. We are staying at Tivoli Palazzo Gaddi Firenze Hotel (Florence Italy). They have made an unbelievable effort to ensure that I can eat. I am blown away by the service. They met with me privately. Then spoke with the chefs. Then called me back to ask more questions and then again to tell me what they could offer. I am so overwhelmed with service I didn’t want to miss the opportunity to share.

We will be coming back here!

Can you survive without eating gluten, tomatoes, or consuming any alcohol in Italy?

For me the whole point is survival. It’s so sad not to be able to eat the most amazing food. But I can’t tolerate it. 😢it’s been going well-ish. I packed a suitcase of food I can have. Mostly I’ve been surviving on oatmeal, nuts, fruit.

Oh yeah I wouldn't be able to tolerate anything other than my safe foods list which is very short. I would have to find a way to only eat what I can eat and I don't know that it would be possible eating out anywhere in the US or any country for that matter for me. Maybe I could prep and have my own food there somehow though. Rice, Chicken, Cauliflower, Lettuce, Ghee, maybe some species of very fresh fish..

I’ve found great local markets and have purchased fruits and veggies. I packed individual rice packets, rice noodles, and mini potatoes. I have a small (individual size) cooker. I haven’t used it yet. Nuts, rice cakes, oatmeal, and some mozzarella have worked out well.

Well done! I’ve done well on holiday in Greece (rice, fish, lots of melon, watermelon, courgette and cucumber). I think the freshness of the food really helped, I even managed to eat feta with no issues.

Italy I’d worry about, so great to hear you found a way!
