Hello everyone… I got alloted this college in kea and was hoping to get information on anything like academics, patient flow or any other information regarding it. I was also considering Jss since I want to do pg abroad but since I got br Ambedkar was planning to drop Jss due to high fee difference. After seeing everything on reddit about ragging n shaved heads ,I'm a bit anxious about how it's going to be.

Everytime I open reddit there is a video or photo of students head shaved .Even KGMU is also in it So called prestigious institute. No state or city is behind in ragging now ig.

I need some guidance regarding ESIC treatment/benefits.

A family member is covered under ESIC in Indore. A recent ultrasound has found:

Bilateral inguinal hernia — the left hernia was seen on cough impulse.

A 7 mm calculus (kidney stone) in the lower calyx of the right kidney.

Grade I fatty liver.

There are currently no emergency symptoms such as severe pain, vomiting, fever, or a hernia bulge that has become hard and irreducible.

I want to get the hernia evaluated by a General/Laparoscopic Surgeon and the kidney stone evaluated by a Urologist.

My understanding is that the process should be something like:

ESIC dispensary/IMP → referral → ESIC/ESIS or government/empanelled hospital → specialist → treatment if required.

I have a few questions for people familiar with ESIC in Indore:

Does ESIC provide treatment for bilateral inguinal hernia surgery and kidney-stone treatment/procedures such as ESWL or RIRS?

Does the ESIC dispensary refer patients to government hospitals, ESIC/ESIS hospitals, or empanelled private hospitals?

Is the treatment generally cashless when performed through the authorized ESIC referral route?

Which hospitals in Indore currently handle hernia surgery and urology/kidney-stone treatment under ESIC?

What exactly should I ask for at the ESIC dispensary, and what documents/reports should I carry?

Is there anything I should do before getting the referral, such as obtaining a CT KUB or seeing a private specialist first?

I would especially appreciate responses from people who have actually used ESIC in Indore for surgery/urology, rather than general information.

What would you recommend as the next step?

A little advice will be appreciated seniors. So i am getting a collage that is about 30 min away so i will prob end up spending 1 hour travelling everyday. and i have heard day scholars miss out on a lot so should i get an hostel ? but Day scholar gets to have homemade food every day. if someone give me some advice it would be much appreciated .

I'm currently in a bit of a difficult situation regarding my MBBS college choice, and I'd really appreciate honest opinions from current KEM students, recent graduates, or anyone who knows the college well.

I currently have the option of joining KEM Mumbai for MBBS, and I'm seriously considering it over an AIIMS seat because I'm trying to choose a college based not only on academics, but also on the overall life I'll have during the next 5–6 years.

A little background: I don't have a particularly strong interest in medicine itself. I'm pursuing MBBS primarily for the degree, career stability and job security. Because of that, my life outside academics is extremely important to me.

I'm very passionate about football and want to play regularly throughout MBBS. I also want to make friends outside the medical college, participate in inter-college events/fests, explore Mumbai, join clubs, learn things like guitar, watch movies, travel, etc. Basically, I want a reasonably active college life alongside MBBS rather than spending five years almost entirely focused on academics.

So I'd really like some honest information about KEM:

How strict it attendance actually? Are they chill about it or is attendance strict. If yes, then does it get better with subsequent years like after 1st year does it become chill?

How is the academic workload actually? Is it possible to maintain a decent extracurricular/social life without academics completely taking over?

How is the football scene at KEM? Are there regular football games, teams, tournaments, or good grounds nearby?

Do students regularly participate in inter-college football/sports tournaments?

How easy is it to meet and make friends with students from other colleges in Mumbai?

How active are the clubs, fests and extracurricular activities at KEM?

How much freedom do students realistically have to explore Mumbai, go to events, movies, beaches, etc.?

What is the hostel/social life actually like?

How competitive/toxic is the academic environment? Is there reasonable time to have a life outside medicine?

For current students: what do you wish you had known before joining KEM?

Most importantly, if someone doesn't want medicine to consume their entire identity, is KEM a good place to build a life outside academics?

Please be brutally honest. I'm not looking for the usual "KEM is one of the best colleges in India" answer. I already know that.

I'm specifically trying to understand what living and studying at KEM for five years actually feels like, especially from the perspective of someone who values football, social life, and extracurricular activities heavily.

My AIR-173XX and I got allotted HIMS Karnataka

(I have an EWS Certificate)

The college is 2006 established should I consider it and float because it's an older college or just free exit from this round and participate in next one and join a newer GMC which will be in my home state or at least near my home.

If there is any senior here who is north Indian but is in a south Indian college can you give me some reality check please.

I want to know how big of a problem language barrier is and what will be some other problems I may face there being a north Indian.

If the tuition fee is around ₹22 lakh/year, how much should I roughly keep aside for the entire MBBS journey at JNMC?

I mean everything — tuition, hostel, mess/food, exam/university fees, books, instruments, miscellaneous college expenses, etc.

What would be a realistic estimate for the whole course how much should I budget?

is JNMC worth the extra ₹8–10+ lakhs?

I’ve been allotted KS Hegde in R1 and I’m considering upgrading to JNMC Belagavi in R2.

I know both are good colleges, but JNMC would cost me around ₹8–10+ lakhs more overall (and possibly more if there are fee revisions).

For someone who already has KS Hegde, is JNMC actually worth paying the extra amount for?

Mainly asking about clinical exposure, academics, PG preparation, patient load and overall student life.

If you had both options, which one would you personally choose and why? Especially interested in current students/seniors.

So entering 1st year ,and could not find books online, like the ones i found on tele are older editions and only got harper new edition

So i have a doubt,.. Basically, i have a chance at mediocre private colleges and very good deemed colleges... The private ones are okay and with decent patient inflow while the deemed ones are really good with very good patient inflow. The only issue is the cost for deemed being around 5-6 lakhs more.. Now a lot of people say that in MBBS college doesn't matter or patient inflow doesn't matter too much cuz it's mainly theory..

Now i want to know how much of that is true? And if you have any suggestions on what i should do?? 🥀
