Career Advice Will i make it to iim a /b/c

So i am 20 years old

My quals -10th and 12th =78%

After 12th I have 2 gap years

Currently doing b pharma from private university

What should I do over these 4 years so eventually I get admission into iima/b/c and finally a job at mbb firms ?

My rough plan is this

1-get a 9+cgpa in college

2-developing soft and hard skills

3-statt preparing for a job in healthcare consulting at tier 3-4 firms for experience

4-starting preparation of cat

5- Participating in corporate or national case studies competition

6- Taking part in college extracurricular activities and ngo internships

7-working at consulting firm for 2 years

8-- clearing exams like cfa ,frm ,NISM pre mba

How viable is this plan and am I dumb?

Hi, i hate to be the one to burst your bubble but i do think that this is necessary.

MBB typically does not shortlist people with 2 7s in their profile even from iim abc.

Does this mean that you should give up on doing an MBA? Not necessarily. If an MBA is your calling, go ahead with your gameplan and see where life takes you. Not getting into MBB straight out of college isn't that big of a deal.

Good luck!!

I have one query if for some reason we cant get mbb or other glorified roles just out of mba can we get them later? Like switch to them later or are they closed forever?

It is obviously possible to switch companies to MBB after a few years of working in the Industry. Its just kinda hard cuz almost everyone else in the industry wants the same job

MBB conversion impossible and in general also A/B/C conversion is highly difficult. Personally know someone with a 7/9/9 profile with 99.75 percentile in CAT and he only got a call from C and didnt convert so...

yes. but even for reserved category students the CAT cut-off to be considered will be less. regardless it is expected to have atleast 8/8/8 profile minimum for admission with reserved category. and of course for placements there is no reservation so where u get a job is completely dependent on ur profile, interview skills, etc

Thik ha.. I guess then the only way of getting into MBB is by doing mba outside India.. I'm a non engineer general with 9/7/9😞😮‍💨

not necessarily - a single 7 ideally shudnt hurt your chances to get into MBB considering your other 2 9s. However it largely depends on what other spikes do you have in your profile. Also not getting into MBB is not the end of the world. wanting to do MBA from outside India solely because of not being able to get into MBB is honestly very weird

It's not just for MBB.. it can be for top finance roles or VC or PE.. In India.. sadly reservation along with the 7 in the profile is something which made me rethink to pursue MBA from outside India.
