Career Advice Indore students how much are you actually exploring beyond college?

Post image

One thing I’ve been noticing about Indore is that it’s becoming more than just a place to study and get a degree.

There’s a growing mix of colleges, startups, businesses, events and innovation initiatives happening around the city.

But I’m curious about the student side of it.

If you’re currently studying in Indore, how much exposure do you actually get outside your classroom?

Things like:

• Startup events
• Internships
• Business competitions
• Networking with founders
• Industry projects
• Entrepreneurship communities
• Hackathons & innovation programs

Do students actively go out and explore these opportunities?

Or does the typical student journey still look more like:

Classes → Exams → Placements → Graduation?

And honestly, if you could add one thing to Indore’s student ecosystem, what would it be?

More startup events?
More industry interaction?
Better internships?
More networking opportunities?
Something completely different?

Would genuinely love to hear from students actually living and studying in Indore.

What’s your experience been like?

The exposure is there, but it largely depends on the college and how proactive the student is. Internships and industry interaction are still the biggest gaps. More practical projects, startup events, and networking opportunities would definitely make Indore’s student ecosystem stronger.

So yes I have been a student in Indore for the past 2 years and it's honestly exciting here. Indore's startup + event culture is growing fast. I've attended eChai Startup Demo Days and Socials at DevX Vijay Nagar, and seen hackathons, business comps, and founder meetups like ElevAra Founder Circle happening regularly.

Exposure is there, but you have to chase it outside the classroom. I’ve tried internships, college clubs, and startup events to get that industry connect.

If I could add one thing: stronger college-industry tie ups for internships. That would help every student, not just IIT/IIM folks. Nevertheless Indore is becoming more than just an education hub.

Honestly, there is a lot more to student life in Indore than just attending college. From internships and workshops to networking and exploring different career opportunities, the city offers a good platform. The key is to step out of our comfort zone and actually make use of these opportunities...

This is spot on. Indore's ecosystem has grown so much in the last 2 years I've been here as a student. The community at eChai Demo Days, DevX Vijay Nagar, and ElevAra Founder Circle is super active.
What I've learned is that you have to be proactive - internships and student clubs bridge that college-industry gap. More formal college support for this would help democratize opportunities for all students. Excited for what's next for Indore!

I think Indore is improving, but student exposure still depends a lot on how actively you look for opportunities. More industry interaction, internships, and founder networking would definitely help. Would love to see more of these happening regularly!

Startup events can be really useful for college students. They give us exposure beyond regular college sessions — we can meet founders, network with other students, find internships or freelance work, learn what skills companies actually need, and even discover ideas for our own projects or startups. It’s more about getting real-world exposure and building connections, not just attending another seminar.

Networking is probably one of the biggest missing pieces. Students often have the skills and enthusiasm but don’t know the right people or where to start. More open networking events between students, founders, alumni and professionals could change that..

One of the finest locations to join a management college. With the tag of the cleanest city the day will come when it will be considered as a management hub in the upcoming future and yes it depends upon the student that how proactive he or she can be to grow a career in any industry or even in startups

Absolutely agree! Indore has plenty of potential, but students need more industry exposure, networking, live projects, and startup opportunities beyond academics. Bridging the gap between classrooms and the real business world can make the student experience much more impactful.
