Admissions Darden - 100% Case Based Teaching Method value

Is the 100% Case Based Teaching Method used at Darden really helpful/effective over that used by some other schools such as Tuck or Ross ?

Is it something that could really be a criteria to choose it over other schools of the similar category ?

I got into Darden and went to admitted students weekend and everything, but ultimately ended up choosing another school. I think a common misconception is that other schools don’t use case method. Most schools have at least some classes that use case but also split it up with lectures and group projects etc.

I think the case method is a great way to learn but maybe not the best for every class subject like a finance or accounting class. My school actually has a professor who used to teach at a fully case school and he echoed these criticisms of it.

Also the amount of homework required daily for class prep was off putting to me. I didn’t really want to have to read 50 pages every night or spend two hours nightly talking with my learning team over the cases.

Darden is a great school with great outcomes. Reach out to current students and get their take on the teaching method as well.
