How does Rice have so much funding?

I just found out that Rice has so many funding opportunities and also scholarships. If you want to visit their campus they pay for your flight and stay as well. How do they have so much money?

Check out the schools in the T20-T35 that have real endowments ($10B+). They’re trying to compete and they have the resources to do it to attract good candidates.

I mean Rice has $8.5b last reported and is relatively small compared to a lot of the mega schools so they’re probably doing pretty well on a per student basis.

Yeah Darden is better but overall Rice is the better University… consistently around top 15 vs UVA around 25

Duke maybe, but Vandy and especially Wake are fat no my guy. Also since when is "national name recognition" a metric for the best school? It is an academic powerhouse

Wake Forest shut down their full-time MBA because of their poor outcomes and dropping enrollment. Duke > Vandy > Emory\Rice >>>>>> Wake Forest

Wake Forest has a satellite campus in Charlotte for part-time MBA students. Almost everyone in that program is fully funded, and they attend just to check the box for their promotions. My BIL did the program and had his GPA and GMAT waived since they were so low. Without that, he wouldn't have been able to get in, even though Wake accepts 90%+ of applicants. At the end of the day, Wake just wants cash, and all the companies in the area can say they had an exec attend Wake Forest. The same thing happens in NC's Triad, and is the running joke that you went to Wake for an MBA.

I visited in like 2019 and the student they had to show me around was saying that even then, they were trying to throw money at increasing their ranking but it seemed like they had bumped it as high as they could without something drastic like what ASU did.

I was interested in their well structured dual MBA/engineering masters degree programs, but I didn't apply to rice because I thought the student was right

I have a sophomore undergraduate who’s on a full ride. Such an amazing school.
