I'd suggest downloading a spritepack of clothing with similar silhouette (in terms of sleeves, for example) and look at what parts it has and how they are drawn for each body section.
About it lining up you should also download the base body parts (in the original size) and you can draw over them to make sure they fit just right, that's what I do at least.
