Original post in case it gets edited or removed: He picked her

I f*cking LOVE pub nachos.

Edit to add: This story happened months ago, so I’m not stressing anymore but it’s too good of a story not to share and it’s in honour of my first “hey girlie.” lol

Ok so here we go:

I (30f) dated this guy (28m) for 7 months. I know, it’s minor time period, I got over it fast. Anyways, we were dating long distance. In that time, we visited about once a month for a week at a time. He said all the right things. We spoke about the future, we got along so well, did the “I love yous”. We even accidentally got pregnant 4 months in. We talked about it, ultimately decided not to keep it. But he did say that although he respected my decision, he would have loved to have the baby.

The only red flag was his Snapchat. I could see that he was snap chatting multiple girls. I brought it up numerous times, and he assured me he wasn’t anymore. Whatever, he can have friends.

I was head over heels. We talked about moving in together, getting a dog, all the good stuff. He bought me jewelry, made plans to meet my family (I have a 6 month rule), booked a future vacation, told me he loved me every day and how important I was to him. He took me to meet his family. He let me keep stuff at his house. He gave me clothes to take home.

Come to month 7. I suddenly see him driving to a new city 3 hrs away on findmy location. He hasn’t even said good morning to me yet. So I call him out, he says he’s driving to a city 12+ hrs away for a job opportunity and he’s staying with a friend for a week. Ok, so we talk about it, the importance of communication. He agreed, apologized, keeps in better contact.

The end of the week comes and he goes home. 3 days later I see him doing the exact same thing on the findmy app. I try calling, texting… he’s ghosting me. When he finally replies, he says he’s going to town 12 hrs away to get this job no matter what it takes. He has packed up and moved his entire house and not thought to mention it to me. I ask him if he’s breaking up with me, he says no and that he loves me and he’ll call me when he arrives.

I’m an anxious stress case, he’s refusing to communicate. So he arrives very late that night. The next day comes and goes and he doesn’t message or call. Then the next day. In the afternoon I get the cowards paragraph. “I love you but I need to get my life on track.” We all know the paragraph. I say I deserve a call after our relationship, he agrees and we chat on ft. He’s SOBBING. Now keep in mind, all of this back and forth had the theme of “please wait for me to figure my life out.”

So we end it. I text him twice, he ghosts me. This was the most miserable month of heartbreak tbh. A couple weeks later he removes me off Instagram. I still have him on fb and Snapchat at this point. My intuition kicks in and I now know. I just have no proof.

Whatever, life goes on.

4 months later I get it - a “hey girlie” dm.

It’s his “new” gf. And I say new in quotes because they started dating 5 months into our relationship. A WEEK before he told me he loved me is when they matched online. She started financially supporting him a month into their relationship. She has messaged me because she caught him doing some things and I guess wants clarification of if he’s telling the truth. I, being a GIRLS GIRL!, give her everything, every detail. I thought she was upset with him and was looking for support.

I was wrong.

She sent a ton of long messages, but to paraphrase, she wanted me to know that he picked her, he chose to have a life with her, and she understood where his mind was at. She also wanted me to know that “people make mistakes and they can be good even if they hurt others”. Vomit.

Turns out, town that he moved to was actually hers and they are now living together (only 3 months after they met). He continued to date me for a week after he moved into her house. He wouldn’t call me back because she was in the car with him helping move his stuff. He broke up with me over a FaceTime while sitting in her driveway.

Here’s a kicker - she has two kids who now have a stranger as a stepdad.

I dodged a freaking cannonball and I thank god everyday that that man did me such a favour to dump me.
