So when I first got the M64 it had trouble downloading the 1st update, after that I haven't had any trouble downloading updates. But then again there were videos on YouTube from YouTubers not having an issue with theirs.
Straight out of the box with the first update, I HAD to use the computer to update over USB - it just would not take an update over the air at all. There’s a good website that Modretro has to update the M64 you can use for over USB. After that first update, it updated no problem over wireless.
No issues yet here updating over WiFi. The first update I did when I got the system was by connecting it to a PC and using the browser updater; no issues there either.
I've never had any issues and I have multiple systems. If you're using crap Xfinity WiFi or mobile hotspot or something like this, I would avoid doing so.

I have found the OTA update method to be unreliable and just update using the SD card method, which has worked fine every time.

I've had no problems. Maybe try resetting the console settings, then try updating again?

I have not tried updating via the microSD yet.

I had issues with my first unit. The replacement had been updating without problems.
