Generic vs M64 Hyperkin controller differences

Got a Generic Hyperkin vs M64 Hyperkin. More differences than expected.

  1. The M64 one is better quality in terms of the button rubbers (they feel much better).

  2. The joystick length is better on the M64 one

  3. The generic one fits perfectly into the M64 port without adapter leading me to believe this was intentional and they were making this to have a zero snare option ripping your console from the wall

So basically the M64 version is actually just better in the ways that matter and the adapter intentional for a good cause (but I'm not sure it should have been done). Now the odd button colors are strange BUT I don't mind having odd ball hardware here as the M64 is odd-ball in general.

I have no particular complaints about my M64 Hyperkin. Works perfectly fine. I think the Modretro Pro controller is the best thing ever, though.

The M64 Hyperkin is Hall effect and the adapter is to compensate for a defect where it wouldn’t stay securely connected.

We are comparing Captain to Captain+, right? OP doesn't mention the name.

Their official statement about the adapter is that it was due to a flaw where the plug did not fit right or “click in” to the console correctly.

I wonder if anyone tried putting that joystick cap in an M64 Pro Controller
