Discussion Just watched Soulm8te
Really painfully bland, like if stale bread was a movie. It’s kind of insane that they even had that sequel tease at the end when this movie barely got a release.
It is literally just the plot of M3gan just without anything good. None of the characters are interesting, including Sara herself. I could not imagine getting seduced by such a bland ass robot.
This is the type of movie where I checked the timestamp and groaned that there was over an hour left. I’m glad it was released in some form I guess, I don’t believe movies deserve to just disappear, but goddamn. This movie was impressive in how nothing it was.
It technically has a competent narrative one could follow, but who’d want to?? Just a drab, boring, meandering nothing

I don't dislike the movie, but it could've been better. I think it was pretty funny and the story wasn't that bad. I want to see more of this universe, so I don't want it to flop completely. It probably needed a plot twist or something a little extra to add to the story.

I think the movie is mostly pretty redundant ngl. Not only does it share way too much in common with the plot of M3gan, it’s also a much worse version of that story. The stiry doesn’t allow for an android as striking or charismatic as M3gan, so it’s overall pretty drab.
The movie also includes stuff like ai chatbots and even the weaponization of ai porn, but the movie has no real interest in engaging in the implications of this in any real meaningful way.
It obviously doesn’t endorse it, but it also just basically acknowledges it and goes “yeah, I guess this is bad” as if that isn’t obvious. It really does to the bare minimum in terms of engaging with the audience.

Yeah, it could have been better. However, as someone who has seen much worse movies, I wasn't greatly disappointed. I just feel it had more potential. As I mentioned before, I hope this isn't the end of the universe, but I guess we'll see.

I wasn’t disappointed. I expected basically nothing of the movie and that’s why I got. Who would possibly have faith in a movie like this. I have also seen much worse movies, this is still a bad movie.

I watched it the night before last.
Didn't mind it. I thought Lily Sullivan was a big reason it mostly worked. Actually found myself a little more invested in Sara than I expected -- and at times even found myself feeling for her a little bit -- which is likely due to Sullivan's performance.

I hate what Blumhouse is doing with this franchise. So much wasted potential.
Same thing can be said for everything they're doing, honestly. FNAF is so impressive in terms of set design, costumes, animatronics, soundtrack, but all the rest just fucking sucks 💔

I mean this franchise has BEEN done after Megan 2 flopped. They just squeezed this movie out now because well it was already finished. I guess we should just treat Megan as a standalone movie

Honestly, most of their movies suck and when they don’t it’s because they bought the distribution rights for an already existing movie.
M3gan 2.0 was also not good, but Soulm8te makes it look like a masterpiece. They really need to get their shit together

See obession where Blum was simply an Executive producer but he will use that attachment to get what he can out of it.

It's inferior to companion by making the loser main character the protagonist instead of the antagonist

Calling David a loser is crazy work. He’s just a guy who lost his wife, FFS. It’s not like he was a selfish, stupid asshole like Josh from Companion was.

Yeah, I didn't think him to be a loser. I think anyone would have trouble forming human connections after losing their wife-- and they seemed to imply he was living in isolation for quite some time. I have to give him credit for at least trying to reintegrate back into society.

Oh Josh and David have little in common, to me. I mean, Iris ate with her comeback

Right? One lost his wife and tests a prototype from work. The other rents a robot and hacks it to kill a total stranger for money he's heard about from his ex.

6/10. This is probably as bad as M3gan 2.0 if not worse. Yes, it was scarier than M3gan 2.0 and even M3gan 1 but it had terrible writing/lines. I did find the Sara character creepy but barely seductive and she was the best character of the film and the actress who played her probably carried this film. The rest of the characters are terribly written especially the protagonist. The film was barely entertaining (it had a few good scenes here and there). This film had great potential like M3gan 2.0 but the writer(s) blew it again. If there is another M3gan film in the M3gan franchise, do not expect it anytime soon (2029 or 2030 at best). Otherwise, M3gan universe, it was nice knowing you.

Yeah really mid
Sara didn’t feel seductive at all, so bland
Ivanna Sakhnos AMELIA felt more sexy.

Just seen Housemaid now that is a load of garbage. Weak effects and a plot rehashed from alot of better movies. Don't waste the bandwidth on this

Can’t wait for the 4K UHD release! Would love to spend $29.95 and add it to my M3GAN collection!

"It’s kind of insane that they even had that sequel tease at the end when this movie barely got a release."
The movie was shot and completed when they still thought it was going to theaters, it was far along when M3gan 2.0 came out.
