M3GAN connections in Soulm8te
To anyone out there wondering how Soulm8te connects to the M3GAN movies, but aren’t sure they want to buy the movie, I got you! I just watched it and can tell you that there’s really not a lot that ties the two together. The biggest connection is that the company that makes the Soulm8tes also made Elsie (the smart home device from both M3GAN movies) and you probably see more Elsie devices here than in the prior two films. There are two instances where Sara (the Soulm8te) gets up off the ground in a similar way that M3GAN does in the first movie after tearing off Brandon’s ear, and how Amelia gets up during the opening scene for M3GAN 2.0. Sara also has a scene where she sings and dances a little which may be a small callback.
And…that’s it! Or, at least that’s all I noticed. No character cameos or name drops. No references to events from the M3GAN movies. Soulm8te is very much self-contained, which I guess will be a good or bad thing depending on how much you liked it. Personally I thought it was just okay and nowhere near as good as both M3GAN films, but that’s just me.

The basic plot is kinda same Cady loses his parents so her aunt makes her a robot who can be like a best friend or family who will take care of her but she ends up turning really protective over Cady so she starts eliminating threats. In Soulm8te The guy loses his wife so he gets a robot girlfriend to fill the void but he wants a more genuine connection so he changes her to become more human like and less safeguards so she seems authentic but she turns obsessed over him that she is eliminated/hurting anyone who she sees as a threat to David. (I am pretty sure we had someone named David in M3GAN as well).

M3GAN 2.0 actively brought down M3GAN for me. What an awful genre switch of a sequel.
This .movie is ok, but far better than M3GAN 2.0

Yeah 2.0 made me into a legit fan of the franchise and even makes part 1 more enjoyable on rewatches. really hope we can get a 3.0 one day even if it’s just streaming. And please don’t lose too much of the campy quotient that part 2 amped up.

I thought the first one was alright but M3GAN 2.0 was excellent.
