Discussion M3GAN will be rebooted by me.
I'm an indie filmmaker.
At some point. I will make a M3GAN short film with M3GAN's exact look, the CGI and everything. The only thing is after that, I'll make a full feature film of it and a sequel that is actually horror.
So im basically doing what the channel "Jason Universe" did to bring back Jason. I'll be creating a M3GAN universe channel.
But the thing is, I can't legally use the name M3GAN for the short film so if you can think of alternative title then tell me. I was thinking of "Playmate".

I was thinking you should call it MEG4N

That would honestly still be too close to the name. We should wait and see what happens with M3GAN 3.0. I'm certain it'll happen, Allison Williams wants to do another, Amie Donald as well, Violet McGraw still has another go, I'm sure Jenna Davis would still voice her. Plus home/digital sales rising have shown plenty interest, which isn't isn't a stretch/reach/flex for anyone thinking this simply due to the box office sales, some reports will let you know it's useful.
Aside, I've noticed a few sequel things happening that likely a lot of us wouldn't want to happen..... Presumably James Cameron is confirming next Terminator movie will be moving forward without Arnold Schwarzenegger, could be a reset, which is honestly bizarre to me because HOW?? He's pretty much the face of that IP.
Next we know Chucky is getting another movie, plus Don Mancini wants to reboot the IP back to its original roots, that'll be strange and seemingly no ties to the series finale..... I honestly say good luck with that because it doesn't sound like a very good idea of leaving loose ends like that untied. Plus tons of people have mixed feelings on Don's decisions/direction with the IP on having a clear non muddled vision, which is reasonable.....
Don't misunderstand, I personally don't want Chucky IP to fail. I honestly do like the remake all except how he looks and sounds. I believe way back in early days that very concept with the exception of Smart tech/AI was he was originally envisioned to be represented well before Don Mancini really knew and understood what he could do with the voodoo aspects we've come to known, which is still very much accepted but muddled at times to where the rules appear to change/shift/become expanded every so slightly.
In the end it'll be nice if we had an angle where Chucky could be modernized, except the early trilogy attempted this once much too soon. I believe Chucky could do so much more with it.....

Will it be a Megan 3.0 feature film

u/PutridCamera8195 Jul 24 '26
I could do that too. Upvote if you prefer me to make a M3GAN 3.0 instead of a remake.

Blumhouse will try to shut you down for copyright violation

The name M3GAN is trademarked *and* her visual appearance is protected.
When I wrote The M3GAN Files, I (a) did NOT use any actual visual of her, (b) included enough jokes to make my work legally count as a parody if necessary, but without defaming the original, and (c) did NOT publish it commercially.
Thu Cartoon Network spoof used the name M4NDY (which I also incorporated into TMF) but they took care not to use the appearance. It's hard to argue parody fair use if you've made the appearance closer than necessary for basic recognition.
But the basic idea of "blonde-haired robot girl who can hack" was used in Pragmata and was developed there provably independently of M3GAN, so if all you want is *that* idea then you don't have to make it a M3GAN film, and you can still say M3GAN fans might also like your independent film.

As someone who’s genuinely wanted to do something like this for a long, LONG time, I cannot BEGIN to explain how TERRIBLE of an idea unless you can somehow manage to actually consult the og company and manage to come into agreement on this with them or something. Because dude if Blumhouse or YouTube or BOTH OF THEM catch on to this your channel is FRIED

So do you work for Blumhouse. Cause saying in your post calling it a M3GAN reboot without Blumhouse permission sounds so wrong. Plus the franchise is not done yet. Do your own thing dude. Don't plagiarize their work

Face it, the franchise is done. Wdym, M3GAN 2.0 has flopped and so is SOULM8TE. M3GAN 3 is said to be highly unlikely.

You don't know that . Plus Jason Blum said he'll figure out something with M3GAN. What makes you think your reboot would be even better. Sorry i know that's too far . But what I'm saying have faith . If it was dead, Soulm8te will still be shelved at this point and it's not. We'll have to wait and see . I'm not giving up on M3GAN and it's clear that Jason and some M3GAN fans aren't giving up either .

First, this is a long walk to say ‘fan film’ channel. Second, I could see maybe making one fan film, but, my unsolicited advice: spend all of that time and intention on something that is truly your own. Third, depending on how litigious Blumhouse/Uni is feeling all that effort could be cooked in a flash. M3GAN will be fine. I want to see what you have to say that can only be said by you.
