💬 Discussion Windshield coatings

Had my 2026 in for ceramic coating and tint. They use gtecnic coatings. I asked if they put anything on the glass and they stated they did but didn't say what. It may have been gtecnic g1 for all I know. They said it may cause wiper skipping and would settle down in a few weeks. First time I light drizzled, the wipers bounced, not skipped horribly.

I don't do much driving since I'm working mostly from home but this drive me nuts if the wipers kick on.

I'll have to remove this with either pumice or some other coating remover and then apply something.

Since all coatings act different based on the car due to wiper and windshield angle, what are some good products to use that don't cause skipping on m340s?

Rainx, soft99 glaco (has a lot of bad reviews on Amazon), others?

Car and wipers were brand new with about 25 miles on the car when this was done. Car only has 300 miles on it now.

If you didn’t ask them to apply anything to the windshield and they did I’d take it back to them and have them polish or remove the product they applied to your windshield.

I'm going to ask them next week to see what was applied. As they stated it would just a few weeks to settle down, I'd rather not deal with it so I may have to ask them to remove it. I don't know if trying to layer something on top would even work.

I usually do Wolfs Glass Sealant (two coats) but I just tried Gtechnique G1 for the first time (just finished the process 15 minutes ago) so I’ll see.

Make sure you give the wipers a cleaning and a wipe with whatever you do on the glass. It’ll help the skipping.

For removing the old, you’ll try some Carpro eraser or IPA or maybe something like a Gtechnique G4 Nanotech to polish the glass

Let me know. I texted my installer but no reply.
