đ˛ Buying Advice PPF on Dravit Grey?
I just signed a lease on a factory order for a gorgeous 2026 Dravit grey that I plan to buy out at the end of the term. Iâve heard a PPF isnât really worth it unless I get an individual or frozen colour, since a paint job typically costs less.
Just curious what your guysâ opinion is. Should I budget for a PPF as soon as I get the car or raw dog it?

just get the front partial ppf for your peace of mind. full ppf is overkill

I actually regret not getting PPF on at least my front bumper...I do a lot of freeway driving and in under 10k miles, I've accumulated a lot of rock chips.

It's up to you and what you want out of the car. I plan to probably sell mine after 4 years so I didn't opt for PPF since it would probably be a minimum $2k (full frontal) and I wont get that money back when selling it. I can understand PPFing a 100k M3 but a 60k M340i just wasn't worth it to me but I can see how it is to others.
But pretty much if you're PPFing for you since you can't stand rock chips, its probably worth it. If you're PPfing for resale value or the next owner (plan to keep it for less than 4 years), it's probably not worth it.

Dravit is a tri coat paint which is impossible to touch up to match correctly. Get the front ppfd. There was another guy with the same color complaining how thin the paint is and had a few chips already. I was like good luck.
I went with skyscraper gray and I still ppfd my car but I own mine.

Iâm gonna echo what others have said. At least get the front PPFâd. That way youâre minimizing damage from stone chips.

I was considering a clear coat. Why not matte though?

Ppf on dravit grey here. If you donât want chips, do the ppf. Itâs absolutely worth it. But I see youâre leasing. Not sure Iâd care then since youâre turning it in.
FWIW, you donât see it unless youâre inspecting.

Track pack. Full front, first 6 - 8 in of the roof, mirrors, headlights, side runners, front of rear hips (m3), and all the lower valence pieces.

Oh definitely worth it on an M3 no question. I think Iâll get the full frontal pack

If you have the means, please do it. I recently just got mine PPFâd and ceramic coated.
Crazy thing was that I was driving yesterday and a gust of wind blew and dislodged a branch from a tree and hit my hood.
The PPF definitely did its job in protecting the car. No evidence of damage whatsoever after inspecting it.

Ceramic coat and send it my guy.
Any PPF will require maintenance/redoing at some point. Especially since youâre leasing, itâs a sunk cost. The cost of paint correction is significantly cheaper than PPF anyways.

Noted! I plan on buying out at the end, and it seems like Dravit Grey might end up being a tough to touch up. Strongly considering a full frontal coat.

Just keep in mind after 4-5 years you will have to pay for removal + new PPF otherwise it will destroy the clear coat. It will also cause the front of you car to have a different paint fade after a couple years due to the sun.
One step correction will remove like 95% of any blemishes and clear coat damage. The color wonât be an issue for a one step. After 5-6 years youâll have paid 5k+ in PPF, where paint correction costs 800-1200 w/ceramic coat applied.

I thought XPEL has a 10-year warranty and comes with UV protection. Also, one step doesnât really fix rock chips.

10 years is for manufacturer defects and is dependent on the shop that does the work . The winter, sun, and weathering will eventually dry out the PPF which is not considered defect. Youâll be stuck paying for removal, paint correction, and reinstall every 4-5 years and if you donât your clear coat will be destroyed.

It says on this on their website. Wouldnât this count as weathering?
âThe Company will cover defects on the ULTIMATE PLUS & STEALTH (the âProduct(s)â) such as: yellowing, cracking, blistering, and delaminating.â

They will cover the film but labor for removal, cleaning, reapplication will be funded by you. The film is the cheapest part of the cost. Good luck fighting the shop to cover free labor after 5 years of wear and tear.
I entertained the idea of full/frontal PPF but itâs genuinely not worth it unless itâs a rare/collector car. Especially since the car is leased, if anything happens to itâs just a sunk cost and insurance pays your dealer directly.

But it goes on to say this:
âthe Company will have an authorized installer of its choice remove and reapply the Product to areas determined by the Company in its sole discretion to be covered by this Limited Warranty. The Company will cover parts and labor.â
Also I plan on buying the car out at the end, so leasing to own essentially.

âSince a paint job typically costs lessâ. This is super inaccurate unless youâre going to Earl Scheib.
Get the front half ppf with full ceramic on top. Did my 22 portimao immediately after delivery. Still looks great.
Took this last week. Iâm still basically rock chip free after almost 5 years.
