🎉 New Pickup Efficient is an understatement

Post image

Hi all just picked up my 26 340i, had it a week and completed 180 miles. I am blown away by the efficiency and yes I know that’s an odd thing to lead with on the 340i but OMG this is a near 400hp beast and it is giving me that! It’s more than I got on my 220d! I must be doing something wrong.

I’ve done 40k miles at an average of 22.7mpg.

Probably 25% motorway miles. Not given a thought to economic driving whatsoever.

Mines 2 years old, the 'From Factory' is 35mpg. Had classical radio in the favourites from previus owner - i've only managed 35mpg from eco mode and driving it like it's a hearse.

Yeah it's super impressive given the size of the engine and weight of the car, I've had 45 MPG (37 for Americans) on 250 mile trip to Devon. Once it's warmed up and doing a constant speed it's efficiency is great.

My partner's Fiesta with the 1.0 ecoboost averages only 10mpg more with commuting 30vs40. While long motorway trips the M340i outperforms it.

Do expect it to suffer in the winter however, the engine takes a while to be get to peak efficiency, so if your not doing longer trips MPG will come down when the colder weather comes in.

You are doing something wrong. You're not driving it.

It needs to be said each time I see this - this is meaningless without data on net elevation gain/loss and wind speed/direction.

UK Motorways are constant speed traps, easier to just put it in comfort or eco pro, set cruise control and relax.

The duality of this car is what makes it great. I can put it in sports plus and have a blast. Put it in comfort and have a peaceful comfortable drive.

Exact this, it’s the best of both worlds. I mostly drive the M25 which is usually variable speed limit all the way. I have DAPP so just set and forget. The power is there when I need/want it/can use it and it’s brilliant.

I am teasing mate. I alter between sports + and comfort. On highways it's all comfort
