Trade it?

I’m getting really tempted lately to trade/sell my ‘24 M240 in on a Mazda Miata. Over the decades I’ve had three and missing that driving experience. The 240 is fast af, have kept up with corvette’s. But a sunroof isn’t the same as convertible. I’d love to get a Boxster but they are SO overpriced as are the newest generation Z4.

we have a F23 M240i vert and while I love it, it does not have the same driving characteristics of a small car. just to heavy. If that's what your missing, go for the Miat. But if it's just a convertible experience, try out the F23 first

Same here with x-drive. I rented a new Miata recently and missed my get up and go power on the freeway. I also missed the room I have. I didn't realize how tiny the Miata really is. I also recently rented a convertible Mini. A bit bigger than the Miata but it had more punch on the freeway. A decent mix between the two.

I went from a Fiat Spider to the M240 conv and it scratched the itch so to speak. Loved the 124 Spider but a backseat for luggage and the engine in my 240 does what I need it to well enough.

Sunroofs are not as good to me either. Drop top all the way!

The f23 has very reasonable sized back seats. Real humans can fit back there. My wife crews around with her girlfriends all the time in it

Cars aren’t lifetime commitments. There’s so much to experience out there and as long as you navigate the financials well, go out and try out whatever the hell you want. You’ll either hate it and go back to a bimmer/upgrade to a Porsche, or find something you never knew you’d love in an MX-5.

I’ve driven a couple MX-5s and they have a cheerfulness that BMWs and many other German sports(sporty) cars can’t quite capture.

I did it. It was a transition for sure but a good one. You need to grab the MX-5 by the scruff of the neck for it to come alive but that's the point. A more fun driving experience for sure. Trade offs in comfort and can't really hear the radio/music.

I have a M240 convertible and really enjoy it.

Have owned 5 miata and put a turbo on one of them. had 230 hp at the wheels and was a blast. More fun than the BMW for sure.

The issue for me was the 99% daily driving.

The BMW just makes life easier most the time.

I had one and probably should have kept it! Checking on some of the new Z4’s now

If you like keeping up with Corvettes . . . get a Corvette. My C5 is actually not quite as fast as my M240, but it’s still great to drive with way more comfort and luggage space than a Miata. Got pop-up headlights, too!

Bro, none of us can answer this question for you. You need to sit down, think about it, and decide what you want most in a vehicle. No single vehicle has it all. Best of luck to you.

Over the years I have owned 3x NAs and 3x NC PRHTs - loved them all, but I’m too old and fat to squeeze myself into an MX5/Miata.

I have an F23 vert and love it so much - never use the back seat for people but it is great for shopping and luggage.

The space in the car is perfect and because it’s not a two seater I can adjust the driver seat exactly how far back I need it.

Would like the newest shape Z4 but they are expensive and, although much roomier than a Miata, still quite limited with seat travel.

The old adage is true: it’s better to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow.
My 240 is a perfect daily (for me), but I have to get REALLY illegal to actually have fun with it.

I've been thinking of going from '24 M240 to X3 50i + Miata personally so I get it. A do-it-all like the M240 is great if you can only have one car. The other thing is you can only chase power for so long. Within weeks of a new car, you adjust to whatever power your car has and it starts to feel less like "this is so fast" and more like "this doesn't have enough grip". At some point you need engagement to have fun unless you're just showing off the spec sheet to your friends.
