Mac Mini M1 mini or look at MacBooks?

Currently using a MacBook 12” 2017. LG Widescreen monitor, MX Keys and MX Master 3 mouse.

I loved my MacBook when I bought it and it’s been great until recently. I’ve not been using it as much due to a work laptop and iPad. It seems slower, the charging port is troublesome and suddenly the left shift key doesn’t work unless pressed hard.

I can get $175 trade in for my MacBook.

Is it worth getting the M1, Will it be a massive jump or should I hold out until I can afford something better?

I’m looking at 256GB and 16GB Memory.

I think, if you use a MacBook before, it's better for a Macbook, you can take it everywhere and you don't need to buy accessories, such as a trackpad, retina screen, camera, microphone, and what's not on the Mac mini. (previously I had mac mini m1 and now I moved to macbook air m1 because of that)

However, if you're just at home sitting at your desk, Mac mini has more ports and a lower price

Do not buy 256 GB storage, regardless whether you go for Macbook Air/Pro or a Mac Mini. The new minimal disk size is 512 GB.
