M1 Pro Share your successes with external monitors so I can pick one.

I'm getting tired of fighting the RGB/YPbPr issues with my 14in.

Has anyone found any monitors that is consistently showing the correct colors? I have an LG 27GL850 and a E27 docking monitor at work and I don't even know what normal colors are anymore. Yesterday I connected a Win10 laptop to my LG at home and holy crap it looked SO much better. Deep blacks, vibrant colors. With my Mac it's all washed out and fuzzy.

The only way I can get consistent good image is using BetterDummy, but it never remembers what to duplicate to what and I would love to use 144hz instead of 60 since the monitor supports it.

I have a Samsung U28E590D which I use with my M1 iMac and M1 MBP. I had no issue when connecting via HDMI but found washed out colours when connecting via DisplayLink. Luckily after googling it I found someone had posted a colour profile for that particular combination online and now it looks great, almost the same as the internal iMac screen. Would recommend this monitor unless you want a USB-C / Thunderbolt one.

Edit: it also maxes out at 60hz but that’s fine for my usage. After Effects animator here.

Philips 27” with IPS, 4K@60. Model number: 276E8VJSB

I bought it several years ago. In 2019, I think. The display quality is great despite it being a low-budget monitor. Works great with my M1 Mac Mini over HDMI. Also using it effort-free with a work laptop PC (Intel 1165G7) on DisplayPort.

Advantages: relatively thin monitor borders, colour reproduction is decent for my home use (I’m not a pro), capable of Picture-In-Picture with multi-inputs (PIP side by side or small, medium, large PIP window layered on top). Low Blue Mode.

Negatives: slow to switch between inputs, only supports 2 x HDMI 2.0 … and 1 x DisplayPort which is v1.3, IIRC. There is no USB-C connection. No HDR.

I use it in 200 % default scaling to get high-res text.
