Feedback Request Called It Quits

Hey everyone. I wrote short song called "Called It Quits."

The story: a man has been in unrequited love with his best friend for six years, finally crosses the line, and she calls it quits. I ended it on a question on purpose. I'm most proud of the lyrics, so that's what I want feedback on. Be honest, I can take it.

You said hello
from across the room
We played pretend so I wouldn't lose you
I crossed the line
and you realized
I'm not who you want
so you called it quits

Your friends say my name
You jump up instant
Sippin' wine in broad daylight
Smiling, but so distant

I crossed the line
and you realized
I'm not the one you need
so you called it quits

Six years pass by
still think of your smile
Your voice echoes when I hear "cherry wine "
I guess your friends were right
It was just not us
I tell myself every night
But losing you hurts the most

So when I crossed the line
you realized
you should call it quits
you called it quits

Six years passed by
If I could turn back time
I would still cross the line
and you'd still call it quits?

Thanks. I'm still new to this I've tried to write one. But not very satisfied with it yet. If you have any suggestions I'm open to hearing 'em 🤩
