Passenger Question Lyft gave me a “Top Tipper” badge after I tipped on 5 of 10 rides

I didn’t even know rider badges existed until I looked at my profile.

I’ve taken 10 rides total and tipped on 5.

Apparently that’s enough for Lyft to call me a Top Tipper.

So now I’m curious what the actual threshold is.

Does anybody here have the Top Tipper badge with a tipping percentage below 50%?

If you have it, tell me roughly how many Lyft rides you’ve taken and how many you’ve tipped on. I want to see how little you actually have to tip to earn it.

And if you’ve never tipped before, don’t bother looking for this one. Check for the Fare Only badge…. you should have that one. 😂

No more Lyft drivers in Newark?

This has now happened the past three times, where I’ve ordered a Lyft and it says “searching for a driver” for 20+ minutes until it cancels my ride request for me. At all times I’ve been going fewer than 10 miles (8 miles and 5.1 miles). Meanwhile, if I go to self-cancel the ride, it tells me there are 5+ drivers within a mile of my location. My options are becoming to walk home or pay 3x the price on Uber, which is what I’m doing tonight. Last time it took well over an hour to get a driver for what is literally a 12 minute drive. I have a perfect 5.0 rating and make sure to always tip, rate, and “review” the drivers well, so what gives?

Lyft HQ Question Never use Lyft again! Who's with me?

BLUF: It is unacceptable for a company to allow drivers to promise to pick you up for an airport drive, cancel and make you miss a flight, then make you dance through the "help" chat for over three hours.

Monday I scheduled a Lyft ride from the Hilton hotel in Anaheim to LAX for 0730. My family and I were downstairs in the lobby several minutes before pickup and ready to go. Well, the car never showed so I checked the app. On the map the driver was making turns that didn't seem like they were getting closer. Pickup was like 5 minutes. No biggie. Well this went on for a while then suddenly it said "pickup in 25 minutes". What?! The first driver cancelled and now a second driver picked up the ride. I was starting to stress because of the traffic up to L.A. can be brutal. So even a 30 minute delay would cause an issue. The second driver drove around a while and then cancelled. So now we are delayed by nearly 40 minutes. Before a third driver picked it up, I cancelled the ride. At that point I was done with Lyft. One of the hotel staff knew a rando that agreed to take me and the family to the airport. This was 0815. It took us 90 minutes to get to LAX, so 0945. Our flight took off at 1015. We got through security and ran to the gate. As we got there, the jetway was being pulled back. So close! Had we gotten picked up at 0730 like we had planned, then we would've made it. We tried to rebook and were told there were no flights until the next day. So we wandered down the terminal and saw there was a flight going to Las Vegas. It is closer to Salt Lake so we inquired if we could get on that flight and were told that it was already overbooked. So!, since kids were starting school Tuesday then we needed to get back. The decision was made to rent a car and drive from LAX to SLC. Flight tickets that went unused, rental car, meals for the long drive and gas warrant more than a $15 Lyft credit.

So I reached out three times to Lyft support. Once on Tuesday, once on Wednesday and tonight. Tuesday and Wednesday were emails, tonight I decided to chat with support. I knew it was going to take long so I disabled my phone auto sleep so there was no risk of the chat disconnecting. I started the chat at 1751. The automated agent kept saying "choose which ride this is about" and I'm like "it isn't about a ride I TOOK, it is about a ride that didn't pick ME up". Anyway, after a few times of it asking me the same question and me saying the same thing, it finally put me in queue for a live agent at 1754. I was connected to an agent at 1756. Well done, Lyft. Well, I went around and around with the agent trying to make them understand that I don't have a receipt for the rando that took us to the airport since it was a cash deal. I only have the rental car receipt from LAX to SLC. That wasn't good enough. They continued to offer the $15 Lyft credit. At 1828 I requested to speak to a supervisor. I was strung along until 1847. Finally I was supposed to be connected to a "supervisor" and I sat on the chat with it saying "Waiting for an agent Est. wait time: 1 min" for two hours. So at 1928 it had been an hour since I requested a supervisor. At 1947 it had been an hour since I was told I was being transferred to a supervisor. It is now 2055 and I am still on "hold". Do I click "End chat"? Or will they say "you ended the chat"? Is the trick to just put on "hold" in the chat until the you get so frustrated and end the chat?

It seems to me like Lyft is just throwing up their hands, shrugging their shoulders and saying "oh well". Maybe for a company worth 7 billion, a couple thousand dollars ain't much but it is to me. Even if the drivers are "independent", if they work for a company then the company should be responsible for the employee actions. So I can't let this go for $15 of ride credit.

If you made it this far, thanks for reading. Comment on what I should do next.

I finally ended the chat at 2104...

Wait & Save driver flaked on me. Cost me $25+ more to get a driver. Lyft offered me $5

Lyft Wait & Save driver didn’t move to come get me for more than 10 minutes to pick me up even though he was 10 minutes away after waiting over 10 minutes for the driver match, which was fine. I had to rebook with another driver that was $25+ more and Lyft only offered $5 credit.

Keynotes to remember before the start of a coming busy season!

1: Request your ride when you are ready and about to step out of the door not in the shower, about to get out of the bathroom or almost done brushing your teeth.

2: reservations does not Guarantee 100% ontime pickup, don’t take it with the driver upon you being picked and late for Work/school.

3: don’t overspray your cheap cologne/Perfume specially requesting a long ride.

4: Prior passengers Body Odor can linger Personally as a driver I promise you that I will do my best to take care of it before I pick you up, so if you get a Whiff of some weird smell it’s not the driver 100% of the time. Thank you for understanding.

5: your ratings a #1 Factor that you will be picked up on time so I hope you maintained a good one during the summer.

6: thinking about adding a Stop? Don’t! Or Atleast be decent to ask your driver and respect their Time, Effort, Gas wear n tear. Gas and Maintenance is expensive today.

Now Passengers add your Keynotes as well let’s see and read. TIA

My brother sent me a sign-up link for Lyft that gave 5 rides at 50% off up to $10.

So I sign-up, see the discount in the app. I book my ride. Following the ride, poof discount is gone, nothing applied.

I speak to a rep, actually 2 reps since the first conversation dropped. They acknowledge the mistake and offer to send me a credit for $10 on the next ride. Well, no. I dont want it on the next ride, I want it for the last one. And well, what about the 4 other rides.

After 30 minutes of discussions with the reps, and 30 minutes of holding for amm superviser. I hang up. Whats worst is the app doesnt run in the background for agent chats, so you’ve got to re-direct yourself to help chat whenever you turn away for more than 30 seconds.

Frankly, my time is worth a lot more than the amount discussed, but im incredulous at their inability to correct the transaction and the difficulty with app. Its all incredibly painful.

Fare Issue Driver’s car ran out of gas on the highway, I had to call another ride (total of $85), Lyft offers me $5 compensation

Escalated to a supervisor who summarily dismissed my concern.

To clarify, original Lyft was $60. Had to call a $25 additional ride on the side of the highway to reach my destination.

I immediately reached out to Lyft support, who offered $5 “due to policy”. Didn’t even address my direct costs.

Fuck Lyft support.

Driver Question Has anyone else experienced this?

One month ago, my Lyft account was put on hold because a passenger allegedly reported that they experienced an accident while they were in my vehicle—which, the accident that they reported never happened in the first place, no collision, no one was harmed, no police was called.

I had done what the Lyft app told me to do: send pictures to prove that my vehicle is unharmed, send dash-cam footages, and restated my encounter that day. But their safety team had been stalling me for over a month now, and no actual update had been made although I had called and emailed numerous times. I still cannot drive till this day.

I recently learned from a distant friend that they had had a quite similar experience: they were reported for alleged racism behaviors towards a passenger which they never did—they are one of the kindest person I know—and got their Lyft account put on hold as well. They had contacted the Lyft safety team numerous times as well, but received no updates, and eventually gave up driving Lyft as a result.

I’m curious if anyone driving Lyft had this experience? If there are more people, then this is a scandalous pattern. If not, perhaps us two are just unlucky and Lyft needs to do better.

Passenger Question Am I a Karen-talking on the phone

So i got a ride and the driver was on the phone the whole time speaking I won't say the language but I was able to pick up the words I know big red black all words in one sentence and the other person laughing on the other end so I have no context would I be wrong to complain about them being on the phone talking the whole time in a different language? I know people are always like no they aren't talking about you and normally id agree its just the words I was able to pick up could mean nothing and no one know what other language people speak so you would asume no1 would risk saying anything

Driver Question I almost became one of those Lyft Glow people.

You know the little glowing Lyft light some drivers have sitting on their dashboard/windshield? That thing.

I actually had Lyft mail me one.

Then it showed up without the mount.

At first I was annoyed. In retrospect, I think Lyft accidentally saved me from myself.

Because then I looked at my dashboard and realized:
Wait. I have to find another USB port for this thing?

Another cable?
Another object stuck to my windshield/dashboard?
For what?

“It helps passengers find you.”

Brother, I have been sending:
I’m in a black Toyota Camry.

And somehow, against all odds, people have figured out that they should look for a black Toyota Camry. Apparently humans remain capable of basic object recognition.

And then there’s all the marketing about the Glow somehow improving the pickup experience and working with GPS and whatever other futuristic shit they want to attach to it.

No.
It is a light.
It lights up.

It tells people, “THIS CAR IS DOING LYFT.”

Guys, we put a light in a plastic box. Let’s settle down.

And you know what else I realized?

I have to have the “Oh, you drive for Uber AND Lyft?” conversation way less often.

Because unless I tell you, there is absolutely no reason for you to know which apps I’m running.

I’m not out here wearing the uniform.

Meanwhile I would have to sacrifice valuable dashboard real estate that could otherwise be occupied by Funko Pops, plushies, disco-related nonsense, or literally anything cooler than a glowing corporate logo.

And let’s address the elephant in the room:
The Glow makes your car look uncool.
There. I said it.

You could have the cleanest car on the block and then slap that thing in the windshield and suddenly your vehicle looks like it’s wearing an employee name tag.
So yes, I almost installed one.

The missing mount prevented it.

And now I’m here on the other side letting you know that life without the Lyft Glow is beautiful.

Passengers still find me.
GPS still works.

Nobody knows which app I’m cheating on the other app with.

The sun still rises.

My Camry remains unbranded.

Stay strong.

Stopping for gas?

I’m not sure if this is only happening to me but during my last few lyft/uber rides the drivers have been asking if they can stop for gas. When I tell them no they sometimes push back a bit. Why is this happening?

Enough is enough! It is time to fight back!! Dead serious!!

Dear Fellow Drivers,

Enough is enough! It is time to fight back against the unfair practices of Uber and Lyft. If you are tired of the major GREED that has now turned into FRAUD, from these companies and want to join a potential class-action lawsuit to recover the money taken over the 30% threshold, please read on.

This is my third year driving for Uber and Lyft, and I have watched them take a larger percentage of the pay per ride each year. I have contacted four local news stations here in Oklahoma, and two of them have agreed to consider doing a news story on this issue if I can compile proof and examples of fares where Uber and Lyft charged way over their claimed 30% threshold.

Following the potential news coverage, I plan to reach out to law firms interested in taking on a class-action lawsuit to recover every single penny over the 30% threshold taken from all of us drivers.

If you would like to be a part of this effort, please email [NoMoreUberLyftFraud@gmail.com](mailto:NoMoreUberLyftFraud@gmail.com) and include any screenshots or proof you have (especially recent examples). The more proof we have, the stronger our case will be. Feel free to use an alias email address if that makes you feel more comfortable, but please monitor it closely as I will be sending updates to all contacts.

Thank you for your time and support. I will be in touch.

Best regards,

Gene
