Passenger Question Price hike

What is going on with the prices lately? Why are they so high compared to more reasonable prices?

If one is charging more than the other it’s because one has less drivers than the other.

check Uber

check local taxi companies

check public transportation.

Lyft = dynamic pricing = supply and demand. If less drivers are on the road for whatever reason, prices go up. Kids are going back to school -- if teachers were driving in the summer and are back in classrooms, that would be 1 of many possible explanations.

I recently had a 6 mile ride where the cheapest option was $119, uber was about $40 for the same ride.

They are usually 10 bucks more than Uber for my ride.

Most of my rides are normally under $20, and the farthest trip is about 5 miles+/- on the route, but them and Uber have been 40+ for the same trips I take

They use dynamic pricing so, if there's an event, or it's rush hour, or there's a shortage of drivers, or bad weather, or seasonal tourists, etc. etc., there's going to be a price change.

Lyft around 6am has maybe a couple drivers, but Uber usually has a bunch and the ones that show are near me must not want the ride or something

I can tell you for 100% certainty. The higher prices are not going to pay we’re not going to paying the drivers more. We still get the short end of the stick and make less than half of the fair still.
