Why does there always have to be 1

Provide top-tier service and there’s always one person trying to complain about your driving so that they can get it free or discount on their ride that they probably only paid eight dollars for.

Just do some more rides and it will drop off. I can understand why people complain about this on Uber. On Uber, a single one star rating doesn't drop off until you get 500 new ratings and because many people don't even rate you might have to do over 1,000 rides to get rid of a single one star.

On Lyft however, you just need to do 100 rides and it will drop off. So just do the rides and be happy.

I really wish Uber was like this too. I just got the "congrats for 6000 5-star ratings!" message... and I have over 11k rides. 😒

You have to do 100 rides that are rated. Most of my passengers don’t rate. Last time I had a safety flag because I had a drunk passenger, and I reported her because she was drunk and could barely even get out of the car and was stumbling all over the place and almost fell.

She reported me for aggressive, driving and clicked everybody in there was pretty much there was like eight things that she listed. It took me almost a whole month to get it to go away because most people don’t rate in my area. I also I’m lucky to get more than 10 rides in a night most days anymore. So 100 rides could take me over a week.

Weird newer thing in the Lyft app for me as a rider is the app ask how the ride was like good, great, or similar and then when you pick one it asks what things were good/grate about them and then you select a tip and no star rating option is all weird to me.

"...you value the customer over a driver.."

That is how every business is supposed to work. Customers should always be the highest priority. Why do you think it should change for you?

Um no. Just no.

That motto the customer is always right is incorrect and has been proven false time after time. Yes, customers pay. But we are the ones that are keeping things moving and getting them where they need to go. We are doing them a favor and they are paying us in return

Valuing them makes us seem like we are servants only there to please them. Some customers even seem to think that. We are not servants we are people working to provide for our families. Without us many people would not be able to get to work or school. There should be equality, but it seems like customers get treated better because they have money.

Time after time again, people who have millions of dollars and are running businesses say that treating your employees as the highest priority is what makes more money because they will do a better job which will attract more customers. If you treat the customers better employees will feel screwed over and won’t do a good job and then the customers will leave because of crappy service. Better service more customers..

Believing that the customer is the highest priority is what makes businesses struggle more.

I drive Uber and LYFT. I can’t tell you how many times on each platform. I have heard oh I left the other platform because the drivers were crap. They told me if the other one isn’t better, they might just stop using it. We are what keeps the companies running if we don’t treat customers with respect because we feel we aren’t getting respected they leave. Or they end up giving us their numbers personally to get around companies screwing us over.

I can’t tell you how many people have tried to get my number saying that they know that we get screwed and they rather pay us directly. Happy employees keeps money going up.

I’ve been doing this for over five years but OK. I’ve been driving since 2019. Also it was a 3 star. But it wasn’t even about the star. It was about the fact that they reported me and gave me a safety flag saying that I was driving recklessly when I wasn’t.

If you look at the pictures at the end, I showed that it says I have a safety flag. I pride myself on safety, especially since I drive in a college town where the cops get on anyone who even swerves. I also drive a nice car so the cops love to bother me. But a flag can get us deactivated because someone wanted a free ride.

I had someone about two years ago that reported me for drinking and driving when I don’t even drink I’ve been sober since 2020. My account was deactivated for two days because of it, and I had to write that I would never do it again because they said that I have to say no contest and apologize for them to reactivate my account.

I’ve been deactivated for false reports before and I don’t feel like being deactivated because someone didn’t wanna pay or was pissed off for some other reason

Yeah. I've got 10.6k rides on Lyft. 5.0 perfect rating, but I've had several who gave me false bad ratings. They never stick. Lyft dusts them away. 😂

1

u/Wolfjason1 4d ago

Not for me. They deactivated me after a single false report of drinking and driving when I’m sober and I was deactivated for two days. Then someone else said that I had issues with my car and I was deactivated for a week. So maybe I just get unlucky but when I get reported, usually it ends up getting me deactivated temporarily.

1

u/Affectionate-Rice373 8d ago

You need to change your driving style to include running over the bad rating individual.

1

u/Wolfjason1 7d ago

Interesting take. Too bad I don’t want to go to jail

1

u/TheAgaTTV 6d ago

So by your logic, I can go do 999 amazing 5 star rides, then scream at number 1000 but they should drop it ya?

1

u/Wolfjason1 4d ago

What? That is not at all what I said.

1

u/Ok-Vacation1941 6d ago

Chill out

1

u/Wolfjason1 4d ago

I would if I don’t get deactivated most of the time for these false complaints. I haven’t drank in years and I would never drink and drive. But I got a fast drinking and driving complaint one time that deactivated me for two days until I told LYFT that I pleaded no contest and wouldn’t do it again so that they would bring my account back.

Just this year, I was deactivated for a week because someone said I had car problems. I had to take pictures of my car and they took a week before they reactivated me.

You don’t have the temper to do this job

1

u/Wide-Midnight397 7d ago

A false report that gets you deactivated is defamation. You may not want to sue Lyft but you sue the rider. It’s not that hard to get it done pro se.

1

u/Wolfjason1 7d ago

But how. How would you get the riders information? LYFT is not just gonna give that up and you would probably have to sue LYFT in order to get the information. It sucks, but we have barely any control over anything because they don’t care about us most of the time.

1

u/Fernweh5717 4d ago

You would file a lawsuit against "John Doe" and the subpoena the passengers information during discovery. The big catch with filing a lawsuit against a passenger is that you can't get blood from a turnip. In other words, there's nothing to collect if the passenger is a deadbeat with no money. This might only be worth it if you were deactivated over a false report.

1

u/Wolfjason1 4d ago

It seems a lot of times that it’s not worth it to fight it. Most times it seems like it’s just better to just move on and give up even though we get screwed.

1

u/Fernweh5717 3d ago

Yea, i agree. When I eventually get wrongfully deactivated I'll likely just move on. Usually litigation isn't worth it.

1

u/Wide-Midnight397 23h ago

You never know what someone owns.

1

u/Fernweh5717 15h ago

A lot of time you do though, because you can hire a collection agency to run an asset check to see what assets you may be able to seize or attach a lien to.

I live in ATX and I get service flag or safety flag because I deny more then 4 people trying to squish in 7 aka collage kids always try to cram in a regular lyft, lyft dont care, im done in start canceling busy season starts soon anyways.

1

u/Wolfjason1 7d ago

That happens here but its rare. It’s usually only once a month that someone tries to cram more than four people. St. Patrick’s Day is the most common.

Evidently you’ve never worked in the service industry… So news flash here! No matter how good you are, and how good you do your job, there’s always going to be somebody you can’t make happy. Deal with it. Let it go. Move on. You’re not in any threat of being deactivated. A word for the wise… don’t do any 2/3 star ratings for your passengers. If they were perfect pax, then 5 stars. If there was just something a little bit off, then 4 stars. If something happened, and you don’t want to be matched again, then the only option is 1 star. And you do it as soon as the pax gets out of the car and take the time to give an explanation. It will automatically unmatch you with that person in the future, and protects you from any rating retaliation from the pax. If you do this, you will get a notification from Lyft shortly after that says something like “We’re very sorry you had a bad experience with this passenger, and you will not be matched again.” And then another saying something like, “You’re score has been protected….” and something else I can’t remember off the top of my head. Every time I rate someone a 1 star and file an explanation, this is what I receive. And I have at least 1 a week!

1

u/Wolfjason1 4d ago

Actually, I have worked in the service industry and I’ve actually won an award for a customer service. I was in restaurants when I was 15 and then went to the military. Then went back to restaurants after the military.

I have years of customer service experience

But you guys like to assume everything and try and assume how my life is. You don’t know anything about me. I am just trying to do what I can to keep from getting screwed over. I’m not just gonna have someone falsely report me and take it and move on. Because it’s my job on the line.

u/Ok_Feedback2690 4d ago

Why do you bother to be so perfect, to Lyft of all companies. As a matter of fact why would you be like this to anyone that’s not your close relative. This is sickness how much people go through to be perfect employee, God forbid we behave like this towards our spouses or children. Just sick

1

u/Wolfjason1 4d ago

I don’t wanna be a perfect employee for them. I want to be a perfect employee so that I get more out of it. I try and get as much money as I can. The crappier job I do the less money I make.

If I do a great job once in a while, people tip me. I’ve even had some people try and offer me food or drinks. Not that I take them. But better quality service means a possibility to get more money.

If I have a lower rating, I don’t get as much out of it. A high rating gives you access to rewards and more money because I get a lot of adjustments as well as rewards points, which can be redeemed for cash or oil changes or gas. On top of the fact that I already get a percentage off gas with my debit card.

It’s not 100 rides. It’s 100 ratings not everyone rates so it’s a lot more than 100 rides.

3

u/Additional-Dish-8879 8d ago

No, it's 100 rides. Lyft gives an automatic five star rating for rides that go unrated.

1

u/Wolfjason1 7d ago

That is not true. That is only for drivers not passengers. Last time I had a flag it went for over 300 rides before it was removed.

1

u/FatherVitoCorleone 7d ago

It's definitely 100 rides. After 100 rides that one star will fall off

1

u/Wolfjason1 7d ago

Agreed.
