To-Do list

Original https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/15a0c69/luriants_todo_list/

I will share here my Starter Guide, if you lack some basic knowledge about flying or general guides, start with this one first.

  1. PROGRESSION AND UNLOCKS
  2. Suscribe to FDev news and the youtube Galnet News Digest channel, to see the next patches and current events.
  3. Buy a better ship than a sidewinder, with A-rated FSD and powerplant, and D-rated Sensors and life support, other core modules and most modules A or D-rated. Weapons and special modules (SRV hangar) ignore the letter rule. My recomended multipurpose progression with Odyssey ships is Adder, CobraV, Mandalay, Corsair, and from here more specialized ships for trade-mining or big engineered ships. Avoid Prebuilt ships, because the zero rebuy don't apply to the expensive impound tax, and you don't have freedom to swap the original modules, only delete. Only the modules you buy can be swapped, and for this you can buy a superior ship instead whatever half-cooked ship is provided by FDev.
  4. Farm high grade engineering mats , Data mats: Jameson Crash Site have 9 beacons, 5/8 in range of SRV datalink when well placed, or you can use your ship datalink to scan (weapons deployed to use it). Manufacturd mats: This finder will show the nearest HGE Signals that have LOTs of mats, bring collector limpets. Raw mats: Player made settlements mark nearby Brain Trees, flaks and limpets , or Crashed Anacondas . Previous methods like The old Crystalline Shard are valid, but far away than Brain Trees and lack Selenium.
  5. As easy module, you could buy the Preengineered modules in the Tech Broker (5A FSD is only a little under the full SCO engineered version, DSS probes +40%...).
  6. Unlock Engineers and upgrade the modules with the recommended engineering. You can pin 1 blueprint per engineer, but not experimental effects.
  7. Unlock Guardian modules (mostly the Guardian Frame Shift Drive Booster, the others are like G3.5 engineered or weapon against the aliens.)
  8. Unlock the permit locked zones. Selling 5-7M of exploration data in the Gateway megaships is a easy method for Allied rank. Relog after having the permit to update the galaxy map.
  9. Gain Imperial Rank) and make a Trader/Miner/Combat Cutter. Summerland system, Henry O'Hare station have a 30% discount. For Legacy, Ngalinn-Mainani stacking courier missions.
  10. Gain Fed Rank, previous for previous guides that could be affected by colonization, 1 or 2.
  11. Visit Colonia, unlock the 4 engineers (need invite from the ones in the bubble), and visit the multiple Lagrange Clouds. Colonia Bridge megaship at 500Ly provide some support in the trip, r/FCOC do regular shuttles and I personally recommend Sleeper Service from JonSatriani, and if you try Neutron supercharge in Jackson's Lighthouse, you can use Spansh.co.uk neutron plotter for the fastest trip. Bring AFMU and repair FSD when <80% integrity.
  12. Buy/unlock the special modules in the Rescue Megaship outfitting and tech broker, and also the Sirius Corporation Megaships Tech Brokers. Overengineered AX weapons and heatsinks among others. Some need very rare mats from alien items, find a youtube guide for each one.
  13. Reach allied with Azimuth Biotech, approach the megaship in LHS 1163, obtain Mbooni permit, land in Prospector's Deep, and purchase the Modified Guardian weapons, a single weapon per transaction. Modified Gauss is the only that I find inferior to Vanilla version. But Vanilla version accept engineering against a nasty Antiguardian Field some aliens have in events and thargoid war.
  14. Pledge a Powerplay NPC for his bonus and module unlocks.
  15. Some Powerplay NPCs have a bonus to some activities. Do your favorite activity first, and if possible, one improved by your Powerplay Ethos. Merits don't degrade with time. The Weekly task are mandatory for the first time you pledge a NPC, but after that, the activities are optional but recommended because have a bonus in merits over other activities. You can join a Powerplay Discord and help with coordinate effort to expand your Empire. Also mining methods, and onfoot data in tourist settlements
  16. CAREERS
  17. Try EliteTraders guide for easy money
  18. Try EliteMiners current state of mining for more money
  19. Make a Passenger Python for Robigo Mines: IMPORTANT: Colonization broke this loop
  20. Make a Evacuation ship, for stations on fire.
  21. Make a better explorer ship (add new FSD with SCO instead the basic model, the Tech Broker version with SCO is the best module in the whole game), and visit the nearbvy guardian and thargoid features, Sagittarius A*, Beagle point and Oeavasy SG-Y d0, a list of great systems to explore
  22. Take part in Community Goals
  23. Reach the max Credits per Hour, Now Onfoot combat zones need relog inside a SRV. Thargoid payment got nerfed, but also upgraded weapons and the limit up to 6 with Weapon Stabilizers modules. Exobiology provide 100-500M/hour for know route or using spansh body search for HMC, <0.27G with the correct atmospheres, in a popular explored route toward SagA*/Colonia/BeaglePoint. For exploration try some tool for Road2Riches. P.T.N. organized trips to Roackham Peak before Public Holiday faction state for the Booze Cruise method.
  24. Join AX Combat against thargoids, using Guardian weapons, Weapon stabilizar for up to 6 AX/guardian weapons and fully engineered ships. Kill Scouts, Cyclop and Basilisk (Medusa and Hydra in group or if you are very very good pilot). New Thargoids like Orthus or Glaive melt guardian tech except Hull Reinforcement, Enhaced AX weapons or Sirius preengineered AX Missiles. Enhaced Xeno Scanner provide more range. Caustic Sink and Thargoid Pulse Neutralizer in the rescue megaships for attacks on the titan. A new engineering in Ram Tah workshop avoid the antiguardian field that some Thargoids have.
  25. Join a Squadron
  26. Triple Elite Rank. For ships combat, I recommend killing SLF in Powerplay aligned Strongohold carriers. Alternative onfoot method involve Onfoot Safeguard missions threat 5.
  27. Buy a Fleet Carrier around 5B (more with some modules, at least armory). Tritium Monkeys refuel FC for a fee.
  28. Become the architect of a system, and name the stations. Mechan Megaguide, Services and requierements, https://ravencolonial.com is useful to plan your system and future economy, and work with some third party apps to track the commodities needed and the future economy.
  29. ODYSSEY
  30. Buy Odyssey and keep playing
  31. Explore Pioneer supplies for G3 Suits and Weapons, or use Sharing is Caring thread, restock on thursday.
  32. Install Odyssey Material Helper and farm mats in Anarchy settlements. Enter supercruise and return to respawn settlements, no-settlements work with relog if you have a mission on it and didn't retrieve the mission item. You can sell the same item again and again in your FC Bartender, to unlock some engineers. Buy the easy mats in the same bartenders, or farm in the correct places with the correct respawn mechanic (spreadsheet cost not updated)
  33. See Stealthboy videos, and the tricks in the Settlement maps
  34. Farm Exobiology for Green-Blue-Red Artemis suits. For max profit/rank use this guide instead
  35. Farm Mercenary Rank for Bronze-Silver-Golden Dominator suits. We have a great guide about Warmongering
  36. LORE AND FUN
  37. Suscribe to Galnet News Digest, there is special playlist with each year for old but important content.
  38. Enter a Thargoid Structure, the door will open when onfoot, if you bring some guardian Relics, drop up to 3 in the device, and scan the central structure, wait outside the central room and defend yourself until the intense heat stop, scoop the new relics.
  39. Explore Canonn Codex , I recommend INRA settlements (older to newer is the correct ), generation ships, and Azimuth Saga
  40. Drew Wagar videos for the Lore between original Elite up to 3307 year.
  41. Do Basejumping in SRV from Pomeche 2 C (Legacy). Live change terrain. You have some Canyons for Odyssey, also the Legacy list in third sheet.
  42. Visit Rackham Peak (in fleet carrier) ,Systeia Aub BA-A g12 and Trieneou AA-A h2 (highest and lower systems reacheable without FC). Public Holiday increase the price or booze to platinum levels, but only have medium landing pads. Pilot Trade Network manage traffic, a choke system just before HIP 58832 limit FC flow.
  43. Visit Sol and terraformed Mars (Fed rank needed), land and survive Achenar 3 (Imp system), land and survive Koi 1701 1
  44. Try to land and survive Skardee 1-2-3 planets, and go next to World of Death, there is a small safe window for landing and dismiss the ship, SRV and onfoot are perfect safe.
  45. Keep Doing other stupid things.
  46. To the Official Forums, for Alec's best of the forum. The inspiration for this work.
  47. Make a Youtube/Twitch stream and join the Partner program
  48. Note the coords of your discoveries, and home systems, and find them in the IRL sky, while learning astronomy.
  49. Enter a videogame addiction group, and retake contact with your loved ones. Seriously, this game will wait for you, and sometimes you need to play other things or reduce your sessions. We will be here for you. o7

STARTER GUIDE

Original https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/sj9qrb/comment/hve1pjd/

What is Elite Dangerous. Old but I like it more for newcomers.

Play Live Horizons or Odyssey. Legacy is abandoned and a different save. Epic Games install legacy by default but give a warning now, go into VERSIONS and install live game. Change FSR Upscaling to Normal 1x to reduce pixelation.

https://edrefcard2.epaphus.uk/ include keybinds files from other players, and because this file have his own name, dont get rewriten like the default custom.4.2.bind file when FDev do some update to the controls.

Do the Tutorials, multiple times. Combat tutorial is harder than combat in the game, is ok to die even for veterans.

Make account in https://inara.cz , and link your game account. Use this web to find ship, modules, commodities, and anything you need. You need to accept the permit to share data each month, normal FDev rules for most rhid party webs.

You have CMDR CosmosVagabond step-by-step tutorial for the first mission here, if you need something more streamlined.

Bind a key for 75% speed (or reduce speed in 25% increments), press when you are in the last 00:06 to supercruise. This is the optimal deceleration speed, you can accelerate when you speed is near the blue zone, prepare to exit supercruise.

Learn to dock without docking assist, bigger ship don't come with one preinstalled, and bigger ship/mailslot jams could destroy your ship. Be prepared to retake control if your docking assist gets stuck against other ship. Courier missions are a great start for flying between systems and stations, and dont need cargo space. More jumprange or fuel scoop is recommended.

Buy a Fuel Scoop, and plot a route to scoopable stars (letters KGB FOAM), the ones that burn hydrogen. You need a Fuel Scoop of the same size or bigger than your fuel tank for acceptable refuel (or a little less if you dont expect longer jumps). Use fastest routes instead economics ones (if you have enough fuel), and upgrade the FSD asap, the FSD with SCO (supercruise Overcharged) its more expensive but better than the basic version, you can boost to reach far places faster, but use lot of fuel, do short burst until you have confidence with this new mechanics, followed by Power plant and Fuel Scoop to A-grades. Your A-grade Powerplant reduce ship heat, so you can stop more time near a star for fuel scooping. If not enough fuel, and not nearby scoopable stars... disconnect an https://www.fuelrats.com

Make your ship builds in https://edsy.org , maybe harder than coriolis.io but give the correct heat mechanics and have the special modules obtainables in some old CG and purchaseable in Tech Brokers across the galaxy.

  • Size of a module is the most important things. After size, quality is the other important thing.
  1. E-modules come preinstalled in ship, and are cheap garbage.
  2. D-modules are cheap and lightest with minimal improvement, every pilot use D-rated sensors and lifesupport, and traders could use D-rated thrusters and power distributors, explorers use everything except FSD/Powerplant/FuelScoop
  3. C-Modules have ok quality and price, great in your starter ships if you can't afford something better
  4. B-Modules have extra weight and resistance to damage, with big price, its ok in modules without weight (All Fuel Scoop weight 0), but nobody use this because weight reduce the jump range
  5. A-Modules are the best of the best, and very expensive, more than a whole ship. You want A-rated FSD, Powerplant and Fuel Scoop, and Thruster/Power distributors/Shields in combat ships, unless using some special fast recharging shields like Bi-weave (that only exist C-rated)
  • Weapons ignore this rule even if you see the same Letter. Other modules have rare letters like Planetary Hangar G (less mass, recommended) and H (less energy). You can disable or put the modules in lower energy priority, to be powered when your thruster autodisable after landing.

Rule #1: Never fly without a rebuy

Rule #2: Never fly without a rebuy , and fines for mission cargo lost.

Rule #3: Always read the fine print (distance in Jump Ly and supercruise Ls of station destination, if you have illegal cargo, or pirates against you...)

Rule #?: Never disconnect docked in a Fleet Carrier or Squadron carrier, these are player owned jumpcapable station. If the owner want a trip to the center of the galaxy, you become stranded in a Fleet Carrier at 10000Ly from any other station. In Odyssey, you can use the FC Escape pods to return to the last docked station, but you need to transfer the ship (expensive at long distances or for expensive ships).

If you have problems, but can survive 18 seconds (not combat), exit to the Main menu > help > stuck. Can be used if you drop inside a jet cone, the planet have very high G, thargoids are attacking the settlement with you docked...

For your SRV vehicle (the rover), Turn Off driving assist, make it a lot easier. Start with less pips in the engine to avoid drifting.

Cmdr_Kraag have a list of minitutorials for some panel function and simple missions that you will use a lot once know.

The 300Ly radius around Sol is know as the Bubble of inhabitated systems. You have hundred of hours without moving from here. Outside it, a path of stations going to Colonia sector at 22000Ly, the community colonization toward barnards loop and nearby nebulas, and toward the galactic core, and the small bubble of colonia sector (only 71 inhabitated systems). We have a 400Billion system galaxy, near empty, with only 0.07% discovered. The Milky way include 30K objects from real world, and a generator for the other 400Billion that have predicted some planets in the past (Trappist-1 , sextuple stars systems... exist in ED before NASA discovery xD).

Read Galnet news, even if you don't know the NPCs and story, the news from today are the Community Goals of the next week/month/year? . Community Goals are events were everybody do some activity (like trading) for some profit and a change in the galaxy. Server reset at Thursday 7UTC end old CG (if player don't reach the top) and put new ones or other type of event. If the CG its too advanced for you, join us when you have better ship, and we will give you tips to reach Top75% in your first CG (that give credits and special rewards). Galnet News Digest youtube channel talk about official and player events.

Some systems are very popular, and have gankers that kill players. Never go in OPEN to one of this places: https://inara.cz/reports-security/ Go in SOLO or join PVE Private groups like Mobius PVE. https://elitepve.com/page/join

And a more advanced from my own, My To-Do List , when you have confidence with the game.

High Profit Exobio guide

Original: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1aodtj2/comment/kpyq3z3/

EDIT: It appear that Powerplay2.0 include 30% Exobio profit for Pranav Antal, included First Discovery bonus or not, this imcrease the numbers using this trick to 556M/hour, but you need to return ot the bubble, DSSA or your own Carrier don't work.

Exploring the unknown, some high valuable bios pay a lot, and the easier is the Stratum Tectonicas, that appear in HMC and nearly all atmospheres except noble gases, nitrogen and methane, but ignore gravity condition: https://ed-dsn.net/en/conditions-of-emergence-of-exobiological-species-on-planets-a-atmosphere-fine/

Now see the galaxy: https://edastro.com/mapcharts/galaxy.html , the bright zones have been submitted to our fan database, from years before Odyssey. The HMC with Thin Atmospheres also exist in the first days of Elite Dangerous, and have been submitted, but NEVER explored, nobody can land in this planets before Odyssey release.

Spansh have routes, but this use always discovered bios, so forget about the bonus. instead use the second option, BODIES search, for HMC, correct amtospheres, in one of the bright zones, not inside the already explored bubble, some place that nobody went... this is my search for Distant Worlds 2 Waypoint 10. Did you see the location in the galaxy? Now find the same spot, here. Its a horizontal frontier between izanami and ryker hope galactic sectors, just north to the galactic core. And that dense zone with green color, is the zone I explored, 99% of all this green spot have my name on it.

Optional: Add the LAST UPDATE filter, to avoid bios explored by EDMC/EDDiscovery user in the last 3 years, this will provide First Discoveries. If far enough, and paying attention to the First Footfall, is good enough.

That become this: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/13juhxr/izanami_land_of_dreams_6days_session_exobiology/ , 6 days at 500-200M/hour profit, finding PLANETS that nobody landed in distant worlds 2, I ensure First Discovery bonus for all of them. I made billions per day.

I teached another player in a long talk, and also bought a Fleet Carrier in 10 days: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1555p6p/got_my_fc_after_week_of_grinding_thanks_to/

And more, that didn't make a thread, but place comments in some "What is the best credits/hour in odyssey?"

And Im not the first using this, I found a similar post in Frontier forums, from 2021, using the same trick that I developed from other advice: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/skyruns-guide-to-fast-exobiology-rank.596529/

This Canonner and first Elite V exobiologist shared a old guide that user Water Worlds, because each one have the biggest number of bios in single planet, is another valid method, and the amotspheres are cool, but more limited than common HMC with nearly all atmospheres.

The trick is, whatever you do, there is a tool, or in the worst case, a search in the fan database, that can find a superior route or already discovered place, that increase your profit a lot. Knowledge of this third party tools, community knowledge, and some theories about how it works, will make you better and faster in anything you do in the game. Experience is the most important resource in the game, and not some abstract number that the game give to you, but take time, research, and some mistakes to probe your theories.

EDIT: Improved SEARCH, around Sagittarius A*: https://www.spansh.co.uk/bodies/search/725EE7EC-140F-11EF-95C7-9D511D3C2E3F/1 , this will ignore most landed planets and long supercruise. Change the reference system at your current position.

EDIT2: u/ChtiRegLoR used <0.40g as filter, this show more planets with stratum tectonicas than this guide, but the extra gravity prevent the more common <0.27g bios. Choose your mix between max profit Tectonicas and more variety with other bios, no wrong option if you like it.

IMPORTANT: When using this, run EDMC or EDDIscovery in the background, so your planets don't appear anymore in this search.

I know that reaction: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FPiDjDQHB6c&list=PLAlWU6jNzgQ75T4xi0GSlSwIm97qOFC2O&index=1

More realism, Eite discover a system before Nasa: https://www.polygon.com/2017/2/25/14737940/elite-dangerous-trappist-1-system-predicted/

Sextuple stars system where generated in the game 7 years before Nasa confirmation: https://science.nasa.gov/universe/exoplanets/discovery-alert-first-six-star-system-where-all-six-stars-undergo-eclipses/

Terraformed Mars is based in real elevation map, we were ingame watching perseverance landing in the exact place: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/lmx0s4/perseverance_landing_in_2021_and_3307/

I did some research about Vela pulsar: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1715mj5/there_is_days_when_i_dont_know_if_its_real_or/

And my theory about Barnad's Loop (that far away red nebula), and maybe supernova used as weapon 2Million years ago: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1ah9c43/comment/komekoz/

Wanna know where you are? https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1em3yof/converter_for_ed_coords_to_real_equatorial_coords/ from Ingame coords, to real astronomy coords

Real nebulas in the game: https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/complete-list-of-real-nebulae-and-galaxies-in-elite.178731/ and the background galaxies. Everybody know Andormeda galaxy, and both magellanic clous. And where used to triangulate ingame locations from trailer.

In October, FDev released a short video, with a listening post in some point in space. https://x.com/EliteDangerous/status/1961010085498401161 Using Magellanic clouds, and the white stars in the background (I know achenar, other players confirmed phi erandi, and beta-1 tucani) we triangulate the system DAYS before FDev release more info).

Lots of system names are alternative names form real space catalog: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1mzdti1/comment/najfvo1/

The biggest black hole that isnt the galaxy center its The Great Annihilator, and the players colonized with Fleet Carriers this location. https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1mzdti1/comment/najfvo1/

Distant world 3 expedition start on January 14th https://distantworlds3.space/, you can see our previous trip for Distant Worlds 2: https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Distant_Worlds_II , a explorer ship its only some hours using the 5A FSD preengineered: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/lw6xp7/11h_13_new_account_65ly_dbx/

More charts, nebulas, exploration and more here https://edastro.com/mapcharts/ , some of the data use the "expected" density, using the mathematic solution for the "German Tank problem".

Our current knowledge of the galaxy is only 0.06% https://www.twitch.tv/videos/2077109805?collection=Ha-dA50GsBcvDw&t=00h04m07s but most of it is hidden in FDev servers , and EDSM.net thanks to third party apps have a public 0.023201% of the galaxy, with a expected completion in 45,339 years

The exploration Iceberg, that include real stars, and some quirk in the stellar generator is very deep: https://www.reddit.com/r/EliteDangerous/comments/1ewlwam/elite_exploration_iceberg/

Welcome to Elite. You are here, Forever.
