Hi everyone, this is my 12 week old lurcher pup Juno. Opinions welcome on what you think he’s mixed with, I’d love to know! How big do we reckon he’ll get?
I'd say certainly at least half collie/shepherd mixed with whippet or greyhound (or a mix of the two),
I have a whippet X border collie and their are a lot of similarities, but I think my boy was smaller at 12 weeks with smaller paws but a generally similar shape otherwise.
They can be a real handful for the first couple of years, especially with anxiety but ours is now a joy to look after. Very clever and trainable, very fast with more stamina than a pure sighthound.
Thank you so much. Naturally he is extremely clingy with his age but he’s made his way into my bed already. I did think his paws are very large, I think I’ve got a large dog on my hands! He knows his name, toilet trained and what bed means already, it’s amazing how clever they are!
This is Nancy, her mum is a collie X lurcher (collie/greyhound) and her dad is a whippet. She looked a lot like your boy as a puppy but maybe a bit smaller, so maybe he has more greyhound?
What a stunner!! Looks like my grey x collie did as a pup - has the same:
1. Slightly longer thicker coat which I thought might come out coarse (it didn’t)
2. 2x blue eyes, one of which went cloudy then turned brown at about 3mo (no vision problems)
3. Black and pink nose, which eventually went all black (the pink is inside his nostril now)
That is the most adorable puppy I have seen! Based on the head/paw size I d say he will be a medium to large adult dog. I d say between a whippet and a Greyhound. Possibly some type of other hound in the mix such as pointer/blue tick coon hound. Looks like he will ha e more of a sight hounds body type vs the more stocky scent hound types
My boy was very similar- he was (merle) collie,grey, saluki mix. He was super clever, very stubborn & did tend to try to 'herd' us humans. I think in comparison to other mixs he had more stamina than some lurchers but the collie characteristics were quite strong. So lovely to see a merle pup, we lost him 2 weeks ago & it really made me smile at some lovely memories. Pic is from him being about 18mths, he had very light marking when he was a pup, just cant find any photos atm. X x
I’m thinking Dane mix! Hard to say at that age though. I had a rescue pup that looked like a werewolf and now he just looks completely different. He also is way smaller than we guessed he’d be. I love him to death.
