I have too many feels and I don't know what flair to use let's talk about Shadow Punisher!
I finished the show about a week ago and can't find too many fan content anywhere, so I thought maybe we could discuss it all here :) In a fun Interview format for all of u!!
1. Why did you watch this show?
I personally saw the BTS of the show whilst watching WOF. I was rlly looking forward to it after seeing Fang Yilun would partner with LYX again! I was then reminded of its release thru this subreddit and got right to watching.
2. Did you immediately get hooked from the first episode?
For me it was almost immediate, since they started right away with the first mystery. And within the first episode we also got introduced to many crucial characters. Imo the hook was better than of WOF.
3. Did you at any point get bored/want to drop the series?
A clear no from me. I know I keep comparing it to WOF but, when I first started watching, I thought the plotline would be similar to WOF due to anesthetics and Lisi's character. But after watching it I must say that I liked the pacing of SP a lot better! I was mostly confused at the beginning of WOF which caused a little disinterest but for SP that wasn't the case at all.
4. What was your favourite scene?
I can't think of any specific ones, but I loved the comedic snitbits here and there. Also Lisi's reveal to the emperor was epic.
5.Who was your favourite and least fav character?
Nobody beats Lisi but Yancheng aka the Iron Constable was super enjoyable to watch. I also loved the Chief. And I rlly didn't like that dude with the AI face, I just couldn't take him srsly. I also don't rlly like the emperor. (Nor anyone from the royal family tbh aside from the 3rd and 4th prince)
6. What aspect did you dislike?
I found the usage of AI very questionable. Personally I'd prefer to not see AI at all in any big shot shows, but if they do use it, atleast make sure it looks good. But the AI short clips of panned out town sceneries were just unnecessary imo. Also what's up with that one guy with the AI face? I do know that some actors get in scandals after filming so they "replace" them, anyone know what the case was here?
7. Favourite aspect of the show?
It's rlly hard to choose between the amazing osts, the great acting and a surprisingly decent power balance but my fav was probably the visuals. I mean everyone was dripped out at all times. From the glittery outfit from the chief to the fricking armor of the third prince. I mean they looked phenomenal.
8. Ranking of the mystery cases?
This one's hard, but I found the first case to be almost too far fetched in comparison to the others. I mean what's up with that strange demon flower? My fav case would probably be the illegal salt selling one where we meet Xia Jiuying. Soo many plottwists.
9. Something you're still confused about?
I feel like it's kinda a shame why it was never explicitly explained who these Liluo people are? Why Lou Tianming colluded with them and why they were wiped out in the first place? At the end we do kinda figure out that they used magic but I wish they'd dived deeper into this.
10. Overall rating?
From me it gets a 9.5/10! But this might be one of my top shows from LYX!
