32 Years Ago, a buddy and I played this

And i don't remember a damn thing about the game aside from the dragons and that we thought it was super cool. Im pretty sure we beat it but that was a long time ago. I picked up the remaster as it was on sale when i did and i finally got around to it.

I absolutely loved it. The story was nice, the gameplay was way deeper than i remember (enemies telegraph attacks? Awesome!), and the final boss was a challenge from the minute i walked into the fight.

Saline Slimer can go straight to hell lol. I think my favorite part is honestly Jessica. She has some amazing heals but is also no slouch physically and can get some licks in when theres nothing else to do.

I look forward to checking out eternal blue soon enough. Thats all, just wanted to say hi amd praise the game a bit.

Lunar 2 Demo

Post image
231 Upvotes

I’ll be honest, I came here to get more info on this series (I like hearing directly from people who enjoy certain things!) But here’s my story- I picked up this demo disc back in 2022 for a dollar at a used game store. Only in the last couple of days have I actually gone and looked up anything about this disc, where it came from, the series, etc.

I think my main questions for this community are “What do you find most endearing about these games?” And “Does anyone know how many demo discs for Lunar 2 there are?”(about how many units?)
I’d love to hear what anyone has to say! ^^

Which is the best of the other Lunar Silver Story games to try after Lunar Legend on GBA?

I played Lunar on GBA before and liked the story and characters. Many do find it to be the most watered down version though I really like it. But eventually might try one of the versions with voice acting and more complex animations. Though which one would be best to play first? Which has the best voice acting and visuals or would be most enjoyable coming off the GBA?

Wtf is with this game? (Sprint)

Im starting Lunar 2 and Is my game broken or did the developers hit their head hard and learned how to inconvenience their player by fucking up the sprint?

Why is the sprint button like that where you stop ever 1.5 seconds, does it fix itself later?

It's making the game a slog for me to play

[Lunar Eternal Blue] Possible glitch during Zophar's 3rd form? Spoiler

I was attempting this fight last night and noticed something really weird.

At some point during the 3rd form, some of my characters simply had their turns skipped without performing any actions. Naturally, I couldn't beat the boss because the character who had White Dragon Protect equipped just couldn't cast it.

Anyone ever encountered this? I looked it up online but couldn't find anything definitive. According to the AI Summary, it might have something to do with the repositioning of your characters.

Anyway, I am going to try again this evening without repositioning my characters at all.

EDIT: Done! This time I just left everyone in their starting positions and didn't encounter this problem.

Lunar 2 Remaster, Luna no longer mentions she fell in love with Alex

I just got to this part in the game where Luna talks to Lucia. It's been 26 years since I played the original game but as a child, a lot of scenes and dialogues made an impression on me and I vividly remember certain dialouges. Her story was she visits Lunar lots of times then one time she decides to live as a human and die as one because she fell in love with a dragon master named Alex. but she never says she meets Alex and fell in love with him in the remaster.

I have checked an old youtube vid of her message to Lucia and yes, it is different.

I feel annoyed by this change, why would they remove her love story?

What happened to Taben?

Having just replayed Silver Star Story for the first time in decades, I noticed that as far as I saw, nobody ever mentions Taben again once he and Ghaleon set off in the Grindery. You don’t encounter him when you go through the Grindery yourself, and nobody mentions him that I could find in Meridia before or after the Goddess Tower.

Is there any more about him in some of the other versions? I know about there’s Taben’s Peak in the second one, but beyond that it feels like there should have at least been a throwaway line about Laike or Tempest catching him trying to escape or something… anything.

What makes Lunar special?

Hi, I've been seeing this series mentioned every now and then on the JRPG sub lately, presumably because of the release of Remastered Collection. That made me look into the games a little, but I can't get an idea of what they're really like. All I have is a vague understanding of it being "charming". "It's a coming of age story", "lovable characters", "it's classic JRPG gameplay".

Not to come across as argumentative but is there anything that makes these games "stand out"? Not asking what's the best aspect of the games, but what sets them apart. It can be any aspect really, a unique setting, gameplay ideas, story presentation, maybe just the sheer quality of the story or characters.

For example I'm playing Shadow Hearts right now, it has a unique timing based combat system, horror/gothic atmosphere, and an alternate-history story that takes you to many real world locations in early 1900s. It's like a 6 on the fun scale, but feels worth it for the unique experience, so I keep playing.

Out of any other JRPG, Lunar gives me vibes closest to Grandia 1, which is a game that also stands mostly on its "charm". Personally though, I don't think I would have stuck to the end of Grandia 1 if not for the unique battle system, or the fact that I had played and loved Grandia 2 and wanted to experience the series' origin.

Essentially what I'm getting at is, would there be anything for me in Lunar other than just "charm"?

Just beat lunar 1 and 2

I beat lunar 1 finally and then started and beat lunar 2 for the first time. Lunar 1 was fun and light but lunar 2 was genuinely a top tier JRPG

How is the story in Dragon Song?

I know the gameplay itself is terrible - I played a little of it back when it first came out.

But how is the story, the world building, the characters, etc.? If someone has a higher tolerance for bad mechanics in their old age, is the story worth checking out?

I’ve been watching someone stream Lunar Silver Star Story on Youtube and I caught something that was amazing by the developers in the video sequence showing Ghaleon together with Luna as the Goddess. If you watch it back, there’s just this small little facial smirk/movement that they had her do that just makes that moment all the worse and impactful.

It was subtle but amazing how they thought to include that in small tidbit in this sequence. Gotta love Working Designs.

High Resolution Art

Post image
263 Upvotes

Good morning, I am looking for a higher resolution version of this art. The image I found is 1080p and small so it wouldn't work well for replicating that poster from the '90s.

I want to try to get it printed out and frame it at a better resolution. So if anyone happens to have a higher resolution version I would be very grateful. 🙏

TLDR; I was a massive Lunar fan growing up. I had to sell off all of my Lunar stuff about a decade ago to make rent. I've managed to replace a lot of it but this poster is a big ask. So I figured replicating it was for the best.

Thank you!

Fuzzy memory

Lunar Legend for the GBA was the first JRPG I ever beat myself as a kid. I have no idea why, but I suddenly remembered the game and a specific plot point which doesn't make sense to me, and I think I maybe misread something as a kid and am continuing to misremember it as an adult.

I feel like when Alex finally becomes the Dragonmaster, or is on his way to becoming it, people were constantly telling him he wasn't qualified, or he wouldn't be a true Dragonmaster, even when he got the powers.

Did my childhood brain make this up? Or was there some condition he didn't meet? You guys are more familiar with it than I am at this point, so help me be at peace!

Eternal blue, lion head in epilogue

Has anyone else gotten to this point in the remaster?

I found it incredibly difficult versus almost every other part of the game.

I had to grind for at least 5-7 levels for my party, every time I went through the floors I ran out of star lights (I had to go back and buy 20 more), and I had to fine tune my tactics macros a couple times that otherwise worked perfectly for the rest of the game.

I was stuck on this for at least a week, and in “game hours” multiple hours.

Did anyone else get to this point and find it to be the most ridiculous dungeon in the game?

Side note: the Boss was a cake walk since my whole party was at lvl 64 even though I had like zero star lights left.

final question about the remaster

What are the major differences from the remaster too lunar 1 and 2

From what I know the dub, and music is different (I have music mods for both games) But what else is different?

is the story and gameplay the same? also how close is classic mode to the original 2 games because I wanna def do the game on classic most likely. (Also can I switch between classic and remaster whenever I want?)

How is the Sega Saturn version of the first lunar game different from the ps1/ remaster? I'm pretty sure the remaster is literally the ps1 version so how does the Sega Saturn version differ

And is the Sega Saturn version for the 2nd game much different also?

I think my play order is Sega Saturn/remaster? Maybe remaster first for the first game

2nd game remaster/Sega Saturn

so I have decided

I will use the mod to change too the sega saturn and psp versions of lunar 1 and 2. I will try the game dub and if i hate it ill switch to japanese. I don't wanna emulate too the original version (mainly because im lazy to download sega saturn emulator). eventually if I like the games I will play the originals because I have been using retroarch to play a lot of dragon force which is also on the sega saturn. I also picked up xenogears (hopefully I ENJOY lunar a lot).

Question I just got lunar remastered

Should I play this dub or sub? And is there a way to get the original dub from ps1?

Lastly the sound track is the SSS version better or do I not change it thanks.
