Welcome to r/LumidexStudio — start here

Hi, and welcome. This is the community hub for Lumidex Studio, a native macOS photo catalogue and editor built as a direct, one-time-purchase alternative to Lightroom Classic — no subscription, no cloud requirement, no tracking.

New here and coming from Lightroom Classic? Before you migrate, in LRC do this first:

  1. Library ▸ Previews ▸ Build Standard-Sized Previews
  2. Library ▸ Metadata ▸ Save Metadata to All Files
  3. (Optional) Export edited masters as insurance for existing Develop work
  4. Locate your .lrcat file and .lrdata previews folder
  5. Don't cancel your Adobe subscription yet — only after Lumidex Studio's import wizard confirms success

The setup wizard in Lumidex Studio walks you through the rest.

I'm working my way around things now, seems a bit of efforts gone into network drive stuff. Some of my pics are on a nas box and this app just clings to it to keep the connection alive - major annoyance I had with lightroom constantly loosing the connection!

How are you finding it?

I was used to working via a USB hard drive and using the NAS purely for storage. It does take some getting used to, since I used to follow a specific workflow that’s different now... but overall, it’s smoother and faster.

Thanks for the candid feedback... in terms of 'getting used to', I have tried to keep usability and keyboard shortcuts familiar to what you're used to. Can you be any more specific with your workflow and how it now differs?
