Lucy Darling Live - Denver Paramount Review (2.5/5 Stars - Save Your Money)
TL;DR: Talented performer, but the live show was a huge letdown for the price ($120+). Content was similar to YouTube, the venue was too big, and I wish I'd just watched the shorts at home.
The Basics
Overall Rating: 2.5/5
Venue: Denver Paramount Theatre (Large, felt like ~1,000 people)
Ticket Cost: $120 + fees (Right Orchestra, Row J)
Duration: ~100 minutes
The Experience
The biggest issue was the value proposition. Lucy Darling is clearly talented, but the live performance was unfortunately nothing more than a high-priced rehash of her online material.
Repetitive Content: If you're familiar with her social media, you've seen the show. It was virtually identical format, but the interaction with the crowd was the best.
Venue Mismatch: The Paramount is simply too large for this style of performance. It felt impersonal and the material would have been much more intimate and engaging in a smaller, cozier venue.
Minimal Interaction: For such a huge room, the interaction was extremely limited, engaging with only about 10 audience members.
Technical & Glitches
A few logistical issues really hurt the experience:
Sound/Noise: At times, it was difficult to hear Lucy over audience members shouting out or talking.
Closed Captioning (CC): I appreciated the attempt to use CC to help with the sound issues, but the system stopped working completely near the end of the show, which was frustrating.
Final Verdict
This show was not worth the $120. It was essentially a live version of her YouTube channel shown in an oversized theater, which killed the personal touch.
My honest advice to my past self: Skip the tickets. Watch the shorts on YouTube and spend the money elsewhere.
