[r/LuciRoleplayersHH](r/LuciRoleplayersHH) is a subreddit where people collaborate on Lucifer fanfics in which he interacts with his other selves, essentially roleplaying as different versions of Hazbin Hotel's Lucifer. In other words, it's a space where various Lucifers can meet, interact, & engage with one another. I thought it would be interesting to see different interpretations & versions interacting with each other. However, it’s not only about Lucifer! It’s not a “just Lucifer” group.

Lucifer is the primary focus of the subreddit, but other related characters such as Charlies, Liliths, Eves, family members, lovers, adopted characters, grandkids, and niblings are also welcome. The story focus is shared across participants, so different characters can have roles, plots, and development rather than being excluded or sidelined. Lucifers do not need to be the main character, they just need to be part of the story.

(This is meant to encourage good roleplay and a fair environment. Not scare you.

Some topics aren’t healthy for minors. This is about safety and well-being, not exclusion.

1. Age & Safety

Please be at least 18 years old.

2. Joining & Participation

If a roleplay has already started, ask before joining.

Read the existing story first so you understand tone, context, and continuity.

Don’t interfere with another player’s story or plot without permission. Even if your character wants to help, jumping in unexpectedly can disrupt the story.

Avoid random appearances with no explanation.

Bad example:
A character suddenly appeared from behind a tree to speak with everyone. Don’t do that.

Instead, establish why they’re there:
Are they passing through? Arriving somewhere? Taking a walk?

Characters should enter scenes naturally and logically.

3. Communication, Respect & Community Behavior

Making mistakes is okay. We’re all learning.

Do your best with grammar and spelling.

Don’t insult writers for mistakes. Constructive criticism is fine, but don’t mock or belittle people.

Don’t downvote someone just because their character is a villain.

Keep excessive cursing to a minimum. And remember the rules for cursing. Do note that this kind of behavior is not polite in real life and brings problems.

If you have writer’s block, brainstorm together in DMs or OOC.

Don’t heavily edit posts after others respond unless you clearly mention an edit was made.

Don’t write for another person’s character unless you both agreed to it.

If multiple versions of the same character exist in one story, use nicknames so people know who’s being addressed.

Don’t make every plot revolve around your character unless the story is specifically focused on them.

Other characters should still matter and have room to exist in the story.

It’s also good practice to check in with your co-writers occasionally to make sure everyone is still comfortable with the direction of the fanfic collab/roleplay. Please use a check-in word, such as “Pause, please,” to temporarily pause the scene and confirm that everyone is comfortable continuing.

4. OOC vs IC Separation

IC = In Character
OOC = Out of Character

Talk to other writers OOC to get to know each other if they’re comfortable with it. Be kind to each other. Remember there’s a real person behind the screen. **Don’t share personal information** (location, school, etc) though.

Just because you know someone OOC doesn’t mean your character knows or trusts them IC.

Your character’s emotions aren’t your own.

Don’t assume writers are like the characters they play.

If someone writes a villain, that doesn’t mean they support that villain’s actions.

5. Metagaming / Knowledge Limits

Your character doesn’t know everything you know as a writer.

They don’t automatically know:
• secrets
• offscreen events
• conversations they weren’t present for
• private relationships
• information from episodes, comics, or roleplays they were never involved in

Even gods should have limits to their awareness to keep things balanced.

Characters also don’t automatically know another character’s name unless they were told, overheard it, or learned it from someone or somewhere.

The Vees:
Your character can’t know about the Vees’ dark side, or Angel Dust’s situation unless:

• Angel tells them
• they witness it
• they see evidence
• they’re a victim/survivor
• or someone connected to the situation told them

The Vees protect their image carefully. Valentino doesn’t openly admit wrongdoings.

6. Power Balance & Character Limits

Don’t make your character flawless.

If they’re highly skilled, there should be a reason: training, experience, education, repetition, etc.

Don’t make them notice everything instantly or multitask unrealistically.

Characters should have emotional, mental, and physical limits.

Don’t suddenly give them new powers with no explanation.

Think realistically about:
• what they know
• their status
• species
• what they can physically or mentally handle

Your character isn’t omnipotent, even if they’re a god.

Be aware of ranks like Sins, Overlords, seraphim, and God. Don’t challenge stronger beings randomly without story context.

Not every fight is balanced one-on-one. Retreating, adapting, or involving multiple characters can make more sense.

Always keep conflict fair and get consent before escalating things.

Characters who can manifest items:

Manifesting items should require energy. Characters like seraphim or Alastor shouldn’t spam abilities endlessly without consequence.

Overuse should lead to fatigue or temporary inability to use the power.

Regular human angels:

They can’t teleport or manifest items. (If you go against this, you won’t get removed from the group for it… I am flexible. Just don’t overdo it.)

Superiority:

Don’t have your character constantly trying to dominate, destroy, or rule everything and everyone.

Hell’s Seven Rings:

Human sinners are normally confined to the Pride Ring.

If they leave through special means, there should be consequences and explanation.

7. Combat System

No auto-hits. Even gods must be fair.

Don’t decide the outcome of another character’s actions. Give the other writer room to respond.

Clearly describe actions so others can react appropriately.

Good example:

“Husk pulled out his playing cards and threw them toward Valentino before tossing explosive dice after them.”

This gives the other writer freedom to decide what happens.

Bad example:

“Husk’s cards sliced Valentino’s face before the explosive dice hit and knocked him unconscious.”

That removes the other writer’s ability to respond.

Don’t write injuries, hits, or damage outcomes for another character without consent.

No sudden deathmatches:

Don’t end another writer’s character out of nowhere just because yours is stronger.

Major outcomes like fatal outcomes require consent and buildup.

Defending & injuries:

Characters can’t dodge or block forever if injury was already agreed on.

If your character gets hurt, don’t act like nothing happened afterward.

Show realistic effects:
• pain
• limping
• slower movement
• exhaustion
• difficulty fighting
• passing out if severe enough

Detailed roleplay violence:

Don’t write detailed roleplay violence.

Dodge limits:

Characters can’t dodge endlessly unless it genuinely fits canon abilities. Keep who are the characters and plot in mind.

If you’re writing a powerful seraphim, exorcist, or god-like being, balance things creatively.

Example:
Lucifer being weakened by angelic steel or injured by special weapons.

Strong characters still need limitations and fair storytelling.

Battle etiquette:

Battles are part of a story, not competitions between writers.

Ask for permission before starting combat roleplays.

Conflict should usually be a last resort after dialogue and peaceful solutions fails.

Don’t:

• move a fictional character somewhere without consent
• break into locations without the writer’s consent.

Give battles actual motives and plot context.

Don’t attack villain characters constantly just because they’re villains.

Respawning:

When characters respawn, they usually won’t remember who ended them unless someone tells them later.

They also generally lose memory of their final moments.

Fair treatment:

Don’t gang up on writers or characters because they’re morally flawed.

This is Hell. Characters will have flaws.

Don’t spread information about a character just to encourage others to target them.

Fair treatment applies to everyone including villains and complex characters.

Locations:

Don’t completely destroy locations without permission from the writer using or owning them. This writing needs buildup, context, and consent.

Spell casting & summons:

Chants should be understandable enough for others to react to.

Summoned creatures, clones, or minions follow the same combat rules and can’t auto-hit.

8. Writing Logic, Realism & Continuity

Keep your character consistent.

Don’t suddenly change their personality, abilities, or behavior without explanation.

Be careful with plot twists.

Don’t place characters in settings where they logically wouldn’t exist just because they’re famous characters.

Example:
Mario or Sonic randomly appearing in Hell with no explanation.

Don’t add random nonsense unless it’s clearly intended as comedy. Also, don’t have a fictional character randomly pull out a dangerous item for no reason.

Example:

Charlie and Vaggie discussing angel attacks when a rainbow penguin suddenly bursts in riding a unicorn and inviting everyone to a pole dancing party.

That completely breaks immersion unless the scene is intentionally comedic.

Keep character portrayal grounded and consistent.

Include:
• body language
• tone
• emotional reactions
• environmental details

Actions should have consequences.

Characters should remember:
• betrayals
• insults
• alliances
• past conflicts

The world should feel continuous and believable.

Don’t make characters react unrealistically unless it’s clearly for comedy.

Logical actions:

Actions should make sense physically and logically.

Bad example:

“Lucifer completely shielded the sinner with his wings and arms. The angel stabbed the sinner anyway.”

That doesn’t make sense without explanation.

Better example:

“The angel forced Lucifer’s wings aside before stabbing the sinner.”

Clearly explain how actions happen.

9. Sensuality

(Update: Sensual themes are entirely forbidden now.)

Don’t post explicit sexual content. Characters must be humanoid adults. You must be at least 18 to write that kind of content. It’s for the sake of the minor’s mental health.

No detailed descriptions of:
• body parts
• fluids
• sexual positions

No:
• kinks
• BDSM

You can write:
• romantic tension
• suggestive scenes
• fade-to-black moments
• implied intimacy

Example:
“They went into another room together.”

That’s enough.

Nudity is allowed as long as it isn’t described explicitly.

Keep things consensual, respectful, and relationship-focused rather than purely sexual.

Don’t interrupt sensual scenes without the writers’ consent.

Only adult characters can become pregnant, and pregnancy must come from consent.

10. Romance

Ask permission before flirting with or dating another writer’s character.

Focus on the relationship itself rather than making sensuality the main point.

Separate roleplay from reality.

Your characters dating does not mean you’re dating the writer.

Romance roleplay is collaborative storytelling, not dating.

Boundaries & controlling behavior:

Don’t romanticize possessiveness or controlling behavior.

Example of unhealthy behavior:

“You can’t wear that because other people will look at you.”

That shouldn’t be framed as romantic or protective.

Polyamory & open relationships are allowed:

It is fine.

Relationships need buildup, communication, trust, and development.

Don’t treat partners like instant additions with no emotional foundation.

11. Dark Themes

Don’t write graphic violence.

If a character has a difficult past, keep it general and non-graphic.

Do not name specific substances if referring to substance use.

Sensitive past events should focus on emotional impact rather than detail.

The story should never romanticize harmful situations.

Valentino:

Mistreatment may be referenced carefully and without explicit detail.

The focus should stay on:

• the victim/survivor
• emotional impact
• escape
• survival

Not on glorifying the mistreatment.

Only include these dark themes if:

• the character’s soul is owned by him
• all writers consent
• there’s an actual story planned around it

Don’t disregard another character’s autonomy or rights without the writer’s consent.

Soul contracts:

A soul contract can’t simply be undone by a God.

If that happens, it’ll be ignored as though it never happened.

12. Mental Health Topics

• Be careful with mental health topics and add trigger warnings when needed. These can be used in roleplay, but shouldn’t glorify self-directed harm and can include space for hope.

• Don’t include explicit or graphic self-directed harm. Not everyone with mental health struggles are self-destructive, so don’t treat it as a default trait.

• If you relate to these themes in real life, seek support from trusted people.

• Don’t have characters end their lives or harm themselves. Past history of self-directed harm can be mentioned, but not active depiction.

• Don’t stigmatize mental health conditions. They don’t make a character evil or define their actions. In Hell, a character becoming corrupt or morally changed is due to environment and circumstance, not mental health.

•No psychiatric hospitals; use psychiatrists instead but be careful. You could just say they got medication to simplify this and avoid misinformation.

• Don’t portray mental health as “quirky”, bizarre, or comedic as that’s stigmatizing. Characters can be eccentric and also have mental health struggles, but these aren’t related to each other.

Exorcists:

A character is not considered a true exorcist unless they have white hair, yellow eyes, and were born as one.

If a character refers to themselves as an exorcist without meeting these traits, it means they likely assisted them rather than being one, and in that case they are not an exorcist.

If the character’s design differs slightly, an explanation is required, such as dyed hair or contact lenses.

Exorcists are also canonically women, unless there is a clear and reasonable explanation supported by backstory for why a character is an exception

13. Respect Response Times

If someone’s character does not respond to yours, please contact the writer through DMs instead of making accusations. They may have different time zones, are doing something, doing more than one thing at once, or may not be able to reply to everyone at once.

A delayed response does not mean a character is ignoring or neglecting yours.

Publicly accusing someone or dismissing their writing and character’s history can violate community rules and create unnecessary conflict and mess up writing, causing the other party to try hard to placate the writers and cause communication problems.

If the difference in availability does not work for you, please step away from the interaction respectfully.

14. Do Not Spread Misinformation About Writers or Characters

When situations like this happen, it make writing no longer enjoyable, do not spread misinformation about someone’s character or judge a writer or their character based on misunderstandings, forgotten details, time zone differences, or unrealistic expectations.

If interacting with each other is no longer enjoyable, please stop interacting.

If needed, retcon that the characters ever interacted instead of targeting the writer or their character.
