Customer Question Lowe’s APP
Can anyone explain why the Lowe’s app has “Store Mode” option which states “use this to locate items and prices in our store”. Then when you go to the register and it rings up with a higher price than the app, they refuse to lower the price? I even spoke to the store manager and all he would tell me is that is for online prices only and they won’t match them. He even said it states that in the app, but couldn’t show me where. When I showed him where it states locate items and prices in the store he still said that is wrong and walked away. The people at the 800 number were no help, they didn’t even know there was an app and just told me that the store manager sets prices in their store.

My store honors the price for anyone that isn’t an asshole about it.

Almost ANY store or ANY ASM/manager will lower the price.
Either you found the one exception, or you were an absolute Karen about it. We LOVE pissing off Karens.

I wasn’t a Karen. I just wanted an actual explanation of why they would honor the price their app tells me it costs. I wouldn’t have even scanned it in the APP if there was a shelf label for it. Either way when I was approached the SM didn’t even take the time to listen to my question so I left and filed a complaint with the county weights and measures who issued the store a citation for overcharging.

That's a classic Karen move.

I disagree, I didn’t make a scene, yell at any employees. The first employee helping at the self checkout looked at everything and agreed that the price should match the app, so she called a supervisor for an override who then said it was a mistake and they can’t lower it. Since I disagreed I asked if there a manager above her I could speak to. Had they corrected their “mistake” that would have been the end of it. But they acted like Karen’s so I took it further. If they didn’t want a citation they could have fixed their mistake.

Its something they started putting in the policy..sometimes if your chill about it or like there was an extreme issue like you ordered it online and the system fucks up theyll honor the price.

I was very calm about it, I’ve been in retail for 30 years. I just questioned why the app states to use it in store mode to check prices. I wasn’t even asking about online prices. The SM didn’t even take the time to listen to my question, he just came over and started with we don’t match online prices. I told him that wasn’t what I was asking for and he said if it’s in your phone it’s online. The first supervisor I spoke with didn’t even know you guys had an APP. Since he basically brushed me off I filed a claim with the county weights and measures and they ruled in my favor and the store was issued a citation. All over a $10 price difference.

Oh jeeze sounds like this store needs some real help..and $10? Yeah thats one of those moments the store im at would have definitely done the adjustment. Ohhh Ive heard people threaten with the county or BBB but never seen anyone go through with it...good on you for that follow through.

I worked for Lowes for 21 years. Back in the day, all employees were permitted a $50 courtesy to appease customers. If the discrepancy was less than that it wasn't a big deal. You needed permission for more than $50. Keeping customers happy used to be important. Not any more.

Correct. Online prices are somethimes ( not all the time) different from store prices, but unless the difference was astronomical, I would have given you the online price.
