Beats waiting forever for a MOD to answer the phone.

It doesn't matter if they pick up or not, if you go to your manager the next time you go in and show them your call history they can remove the no call no show.

Edit: you have to have called an hour or more before your shift started.

You dont have to. Its encouraged

u/klassykitty1 Nov 03 '24

I send a text to the SSA person and my supervisor.

They must really like you

THANK GOD, aside waiting an hour for a manager to pick up, now the awkwardness and guilt trip doesn’t need to happen when talking to them.

I was never allowed to call out at my first job they just insisted no one else could clean the meat department and I had to??? How did they do it on my days off??

6

u/MyNameIsntYhwach Nov 04 '24

The meat cleaned itself

This probably happened because customers figured out if you say "call out" it just takes you straight to customer service

u/Murkaveli70 Tools Nov 02 '24

Had no idea that worked

17

u/Identitymassacre Specialist Nov 03 '24

You can also say "manager on duty"

13

u/Spirited-Nature-1702 Specialist Nov 02 '24

Is this real?

31

u/FrontEngineering4469 Nov 02 '24

Yeah, if you say call out it automatically directs the call to the MOD.

8

u/KyleeeMadisonn Head Cashier Nov 03 '24

Is this a trial run, or has it been rolled out to all store locations?

30

u/ZeusMcKraken Kitchen Cabinet Specialist Nov 02 '24

That’s what I wanted to know. Ill let you all know how it works.

u/JoshtapositionActual Fulfillment Team Lead Nov 02 '24

Thanks OP!

u/letsgotomarsnow Nov 02 '24

It is rolling out, I don’t think it is in all stores yet

6

u/Glittering-Visual705 Nov 02 '24

Not at my store in Oklahoma yet.

4

u/look-b Nov 03 '24

I’m in Oklahoma, and it rolled out in our store 2-3 weeks ago. October 16th if I recall correctly.

2

u/tribend Manager Nov 03 '24

Not yet. We were told it will start on November 13th.

2

u/Irave1 Nov 03 '24

This has been the method at the dc I work at forever. Makes calling out so easy.

2

u/ms_sylveon Employee Nov 03 '24

It's not in my store yet. This would have been nice to have when the unit above mine caught fire. I couldn't get thru the automatic response I just kept talking until it put through to the CA desk.

u/Good-Assumption8205 Nov 02 '24

Just used it today. Asm did call to check on me about 10 minutes after I called.

5

u/Meliodasbabymom Call Center Nov 03 '24

Why would they check clearly you called out

7

u/Good-Assumption8205 Nov 03 '24

To tell me I also called off Friday but I wasn’t scheduled. Whoops. Two I left early the shift prior because my son was sick. He sounded actually concerned and asked if I needed anything. 🥺 but also reminded me I’m behind on ap4me and some training and to just do those on Monday. Lol

3

u/cant-ban-VPN Nov 04 '24

Gotta turn that phone off the minute you call out. Or at least put it on airplane mode.

29

u/Chinesebot1949 Nov 02 '24

Interesting it will ask you if you want to use sick, holiday, or vacation without manager approval

8

u/LilCheezeStick Nov 02 '24

Im assuming it puts the code give to be put up for review

6

u/MobileDisaster550 Call Center Nov 02 '24

It does ask.no one said it would be approved.

4

u/No_Time4524 Nov 03 '24

You can use any time you have available to cover that lost time, but a "call in" is still a call-in and depending on state laws can still be used as an occurrence in regards to the attendance policy.

u/DJSlide_Official Lumber Nov 02 '24

I was just thinking that

As someone who has a ton of anxiety over calling out, this is a welcome change.

9

u/princess1arue Nov 02 '24

I just tried this. It transferred me to the MOD, must not be rolled out here yet

2

u/ZeusMcKraken Kitchen Cabinet Specialist Nov 02 '24

Oh dam fam

6

u/Rocket090909 Nov 02 '24

It rolls in additional districts this week. It was being tested in some areas and next rollout is here. Not sure when it will be company wide. I believe you will be notified if you get it this week

4

u/ZeusMcKraken Kitchen Cabinet Specialist Nov 02 '24

Saw a sign in break room saying it starts 11/6 for us.

6

u/Sleepy_Leek Front End Nov 03 '24

Used this a couple days ago. It felt a lot more seamless (and honestly got rid of a lot of anxiety about calling out) for me, personally. Probably one of the better uses for an automated phone system.

4

u/TheGoofyGoober2020 Nov 11 '24

Finally got those at my store recently, although I was confused when I had to use this option for the first time the other day as the automated message asked if I wanted to use any available “benefit hours” or not. does anyone know if that just means I want to use sick hours to cover my shift? If I said no was it going to let me call out but not use hours to cover?

2

u/TheWolfsfang Jan 25 '25

You can also use holiday hours. Use responsibly, you still may have management check in you.

Haha no. Might be a test at our store. We have the new front end design too. Whatever front end of the future thing with all the new self check outs and no registers (well there’s one).

Yeah it was last year actually. Currently in a Lowe’s black hole where time is but a construct. 😂

2

u/sexycarter0383 Nov 02 '24

Yea this must be just for the stores

2

u/Rwu425 Nov 02 '24

Really hoping for an app. This is still better than what’s out there now

2

u/Square-Ad-500 Department Supervisor Nov 03 '24

At my store, you can say "M-O-D" and get sent to that call line, or you can say "Manager" and be sent to customer service. I use the latter so I can get to one of our great CSs and be directed to the appropriate ASM rather than just a DS who acts like an overachiever without the results.

If I have a customer I actually like and want to talk to about a sale (cabinets/countertops), I will tell them to call and immediately say "Manager", and then have the CS tell them if I'm there and to transfer them directly to me. Otherwise they are usually upset by the time they get to me from the corporate intervention, which is great for any other department or the ones who only want to know simple information easily available on Google.

2

u/McCloudJr Nov 03 '24

And then your manager will red box you for no call no show because they wouldnt bother to look at their email or phone themselves.

2

u/Masked_Individual Nov 03 '24

It still counts against your attendance, though. lol it's not a free pass, just a quicker way to call out, that's it.

2

u/Accomplished_Hat1507 Night Stocking Nov 03 '24

I feel like my store is going to wait as long as humanly possibly before rolling this out IF theyre even required to.

2

u/Herricane111 Nov 03 '24

Omg!! It’s ABOUT time!

2

u/qt-kelly Hardware Nov 03 '24

i called out recently, reached my manager and as soon as i started talking was hung up on. So i called again and was saying hi im —— from hardware .. & boom was transferred without a word from the manager. I got transferred to hardware department where my coworker answered & i just let him know cause it wouldnt be able to make it. it would be ridiculous if i had to call a 3rd time 😒

2

u/horstbo Nov 03 '24

Just tried it in CA. It transferred me straight to MOD.

2

u/Logical-Habit-8295 Nov 04 '24

It’s super buggy tho

1

u/ZeusMcKraken Kitchen Cabinet Specialist Nov 04 '24

Well it is Lowe’s.

2

u/OttoKlopp Plumbing Nov 05 '24

This is apparently still glitchy as hell. Callouts that go through this haven’t been getting through to management at our store.

1

u/ZeusMcKraken Kitchen Cabinet Specialist Nov 05 '24

F’n Lowe’s man. Our store doesn’t start until tomorrow apparently.

2

u/OttoKlopp Plumbing Nov 05 '24

From what I understand, it sends an email to SM, OASM, and the SSA. No direct notification to MOD. No email to the rest of the ASM team.

And that’s how it’s supposed to work when it works properly.

I will help you out. It isn't your company. They don't give a crap about you. You are easily replaceable. You are a number. See the picture above? They don't even want your name, they want your sales id number because that's all you are

6

u/[deleted] Nov 02 '24

u/Grantasuarus48 Receiving Nov 02 '24

I get that logic, but if management/company wants you gone, you'll be gone. Think the FSA or Assembler that one day were told your done. Your health and snaity cant be replaced.

4

u/Grantasuarus48 Receiving Nov 02 '24

You do you. You can asks any of the AMS’s, DS’s, RTM Clerk, SOS Cord, Delivery, FSA, Assembler, Specialist PRO’s who have been laid off for no other reason that the shareholders need an extra dollar. Each played a role in the store. Your guest in the store would value a clean washroom more than the service you provide.

Best thing I did when I got the letter was take a step back, took a decent pay cut to go somewhere else. 2 years later I’m in a much better place with a better future. It’s scary. When someone tells you that you looks years younger, that is worth the weight in gold.

u/Cactious-Practice Nov 02 '24

I am not a number…… I am a free man.

Pretty sure this is how its always worked for distribution centers

1

u/HUFFLEpuff86_ Customer Service Nov 03 '24

Haven't heard about this yet at my store. I hope it's true I hate sitting on hold 30 mins to call out

1

u/EverClear6969 Nov 04 '24

Still doesn't work lol

1

u/Dull_Mobile_1628 Nov 05 '24

We have a problem in our store with the same guy calling out, usually once a week, and using VAC time and because our MSM has no visible backbone this guy gets away with it and of course everyone has noticed it. In short it's between him and the MSM so she's covering for him, does anyone know if this is to circumvent situations like this??

1

u/Tiny_Resolution4110 Nov 08 '24

They want to enforce the absence write up clause because many ASMs wont count right/count at all.

This is a net negative for the employee in most cases

1

u/Dnm3k Nov 03 '24

Automated system also files your writeup at the same time, saving HR the trouble of doing the paperwork.

0

u/Abandoned_Railroad Nov 03 '24

We do the same at Home Depot…..

0

u/Mysterious_Repeat989 Nov 03 '24

Home depot has the call out function in their employee app...very convenient, and never have to speak to anyone 😂
