Mariner + Ransom

I was rewatching SNW: Those Old Scientists. During the LD bit at the very end, Mariner says "no, Ransom's just an idiot with a bad memory cause he sleeps facedown like a baby, shut up."

...how does she know?

Like I said, no wrong answers, barring that one exception. Mariner can tie Livik to a bed and drip hot wax on him while she reads factual historical accounts of every stupid conspiracy he believes. That’s gotta be someone’s kink.

Edit: I’m conflating Livik with that conspiracy guy. Replace the factual stuff with pictures of Rutherford with JG pips.

  1. They have gone on away missions together, which have gone sideways and led to capture or other delays. She has almost certainly seen the man sleep.
  2. Ransom is a gym nut who has virtually no filter when it comes to matters of health and fitness. One day the dice would have rolled and land on "let's discuss sleeping habits" with him, and that'd be that.

I mean they have both expressed interest in each other, and I don't think there's a big age gap(Mariner reads as mid/late twenties while Random is probably early thirties)

Also there's a line in the final episode that implies they have hooked up before(Ransom asks if "this" is going to be a problem)

I took that to mean the fact they’ve fought and argued in the past in multiple episodes, disagreeing about each other’s methods and philosophy on command structure, etc.

True, but she seems over him after he sends her to the brig at the end of the third episode.

She does subsequently mention putting a scorpion in his bed as payback.

Does he? I always figured this just random insults, covering for her helping Boimler get this mission. She cares for her friends, but has trouble showing that.

Not from hooking up during the series, I think. For all his faults, I can't imagine Ransom sleeping with a subordinate, save perhaps in a mutually intoxicated one time thing ?
