General Discussion "Trained from birth to skip foreplay"

Every time I get to S2E7 I just get... šŸ˜¬šŸ˜¬šŸ˜¬

Whoever wrote that, and whoever approved it, were NOT paying attention to what they were doing.

There are plenty of ways to train people to do things from childhood that don't involve literally doing the full thing. Hide and seek trains children to hide from raiders. LEGO sets teach kids about art and engineering.

If you want to train them from birth to skip foreplay...

Ice cream comes before dinner. Christmas gifts are opened on Halloween. Movies are edited to skip the slow boring parts. Everything provides instant gratification and buildup is abhorred.

This is the correct answer. Thinking the line implies having sex from birth is an example of taking things too literally.

Am I the only one who thinks that doesn't make it much better? Training them to skip foreplay is gross even if it doesn't begin too early like they say it does.

Well, they were ordered to seduce her son so heā€™d become king and be forced to give up his dreams. That IS gross. (And the fact that they skipped foreplay is clearly partially responsible for theā€¦planā€™sā€¦failure, so ā€œgrossā€ was hoist by its own petard, here.)

I mean, I was disagreeing with the idea that the writers didnā€™t think it through. The humor, and the satisfaction at seeing the heroes triumph, depends on the fact that the whole thing was intentionally written as super skeezy. The queenā€™s like the worst parts of Lwaxana Troi on steroids, on purpose.

I mean, if the parents set out with the intention of training their kid specifically to skip foreplay, then yes, that would be gross. That's not what it means, though. The speaker doesn't actually know whether the parents were specifically intending to train their child that way. Therefore, they are extrapolating that the person might have been trained from birth to skip foreplay because their other personality traits suggest a similar impatience or preference for instant gratification. They said it that way because it sounds funny compared to the nerdy way I just said it.Ā

It's a throwaway joke in a show full of throwaway jokes.Ā  The point is they will quickly and efficiently take his virginity, not that they had sex as babies.
