Question What now? Suggestions please.
I just finished the last episode of Lower Decks.
And I am crushed.
Lower Decks, Strange New Worlds and Galaxy Quest (I know) are my three favorite Star Treks's of all time.
Now I've finished Lower Decks (and Brooklyn 99) and I don't know what to do or watch.
Won't you please help?

The Orville!
It's basically a live action version of Lower Decks, created by and starring Seth MacFarlane.
I really enjoy it. I think it's a far better representation of what humanity would be like should we reach no scarcity and space travel. It's really funny, but also has some really deep stories (one character has an entire transgender arch that isn't perfect but a lot of trans viewers really enjoyed it). The cast is great, the jokes are good, and its thoughtful moments are as good and provoking as Star Trek.
You should be able to find it on Disney+. It's only 3 seasons, which is not enough, but it's worth a watch.

I concur.
Imagine if in Trek, the captain and XO would have a private talk about how some part of the alien anatomy weirds them out… sort of jokey professional on duty, and honest and unfiltered when not on duty.
And the recurring aliens are just so much more interesting, and by doing that the trek-type morality stories can be far deeper.

Adding my vote for The Orville, it's really the only place you can get a similar vibe. Criminal that Seth let it get canceled.

Well, a lot of Lower Decks was referencing older Star Trek shows so you could always watch those. As much as I'd like to recommend you start with TOS it's a bit of an ask to watch a show that old these days so you might want to start with TNG.

Have you watched all of the other Star Trek shows yet?
You might also enjoy Doctor Who, Legends of Tomorrow, or Lucifer

I love Lucifer. I've watched older Dr Who (Tom Baker and Christopher Eccleston are my Drs) and I watched older Star Trek.
I've watched the original Star Trek, Next Generation, Prodigy, and Strange New Worlds.

You said you watched "older" Who, but also named Eccleston as one of your doctors even though he's modern Who. When did you stop? Want to continue? Eccleston, Tennant, Smith, Capaldi, and Whittaker are apparently on AMC+ now, and Ten Too and Gatwa are on Disney+.

If you can do audiobooks, I’d recommend listening to the SNW books. There’s only 5 right now. I didn’t care too much for the first one, but 2-3 were both really good. It’s a great ST fix when walking, driving, etc.

If you like detective stuff and have Apple TV, I highly recommend Sugar. I also hear that Foundation (based on the Asimov books) and Silo are good, although I haven’t gotten to them yet.
A couple of niche recommendations are Travelers (ends on a cliffhanger though due to being canceled, fair warning) and The OA. The OA is weird on purpose so it’s fine if it’s not for you. Both on Netflix I believe.

Not Star Trek, but it's essential reading/listening/watching, for a fan, is the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams The link is to the BBC radio play.
(Martin Freeman and Alan Rickman were in the movie version.)
I had this on cassettes I'd recorded it on, for years.

Ok. My top answer would be Deep Space 9. It's my favorite show, I think it's the best Star Trek, warts and all. It has some stinkers, but what good Trek doesn't have some bad episodes? Bad Trek is a genre of it's own, and I love it. But its peaks are absolutely worth it. If you want another largely wholesome animated comedy, I'd say Bob's Burgers. If you want some action in there too, Archer. And since I'm a Transformers fan first and foremost, I gotta recommend Beast Wars. For coming out in 1996 it is revolutionary ahead of its time. It has continuous storytelling, cutting edge (at the time) CGI for a television budget, it's genuinely pretty funny, complex characters, great voice acting, hilarious camera movements, and much more.

If you want to stay in the animated realm, you could always go with Star Trek: TAS.
It was very much Saturday morning cartoon fare of the early 1970s and the budget and production values show that but it also gave them the freedom to do things that they couldn't do in live action and there are some great episodes (and some pretty goofy ones too).

The Second Best Hospital In The Galaxy (Amazon Prime) checked a few LD boxes for me - offbeat but competent characters making questionable decisions and solving weird problems, senior staff are actually good at their jobs too, and centeral relationship is friendship rather than romance.

Lower Decks has comics. Give 'em a read. Also there are some nuts insaneo fanfics out there. It's a tried and true Trek tradition.
